Automatically Generated Transcript (may not be 100% accurate)
" Now the Democrats are not deterred by the review that they receive from voters on Tuesday they are moving full speed ahead."
" On a government health care takeover and they say that the vote. We'll take place on its people sees 2000 page bill tomorrow but."
" In those last minute push Democrats are running you know road blocks from their own party according to Bloomberg News pro life Democrats want assurances. That the government plan will not subsidize abortions and they've yet to receive it. Now other centrist Democrats like North Dakota congressman Earl Pomeroy. Are asking party leaders to assure them that illegal immigrants will not be covered by the bill."
" And given that unemployment hit double digits last month reaching 826 year high of ten point 2%. You think the Democrats will be focusing their efforts on the economy. But I guess nanny state health care and that bill is now taking priority."
" And joining me now with reaction to all of this is the GOP chairman Michael Steele is back analyst Michael good to see it -- sound good to see about it all right so. The real problem is it with this huge advantage Nancy Pelosi has in the house. She can't get her fellow Democrats to support their health care bill and I wouldn't now we hearing that may have to put off the vote to Sunday Monday or maybe it."
" That's right right puts us on this is that this is a train wreck that's imploding before becomes a train wreck and and the reality of it is. This is what we're talking about their body knows exactly which you reference -- this is that folks 2000 pages of mess. And -- can't even get their own party behind it and the reality of it is what's in this bill does not guarantee that abortions will be excluded from. Funding by the federal government does not guarantee that illegal immigrants won't be able to access the system. And they can't -- make these guarantees to their own members. So it all this noise is to hear -- the White House and from Nancy Pelosi and all these other folks that Republicans this Republicans that. There are problems are internal to them they put together a monstrosity of a bill Sean. They can't get the support behind it they have delayed this thing more and more as the as the week has gone on. Now on this probably gonna push in the next week my point might have. Was this at this point is there's no bill amid because you can't get blue dogs to bite into this thing because at that point I -- what what do we know about what. Could. As many as 800 amendments. That they added to that 2000 page monstrosity. That nobody's had a chance chance to look at yet we knew nothing about them. We don't know anything about the -- and that's another good point here is that you've got Democrats who added to this thing. But Republicans haven't been allowed to Republicans aren't allowed to submit. There -- amendments that there are suggestions on how to streamline the sting make it cost effective make a bottom up. And slows down this this eventual train -- healthcare. So on top of all of this you've got layer layer of additional limits that no one knows about and keep my sunny you can on this a couple of times this week. You have the president the beginning of the year telling us that everything is gonna be transparent here that we want to share with the American people exactly what's inside this thing right now. Well guess what Nancy Pelosi said no. We're not gonna allow you to read this -- two hours before -- final passage on the bill. That you know we're gonna -- technical thing and it's just going to be did managers' amendments that she'll get to look at. Well what kind of nonsense is that we wanna read the bill we want to know whether or not you're going to be funded abortions are going to be providing health -- until it illegal immigrants. And that you're going to. In effect create a nationalized health --"
" but more importantly that it can we really keep our current plan or ultimately we all going to be funneled into the government's system. And we just going to be fumble then what well that's my interpretation in my read of it if you go to paid what 92 page 118. Of the bill I think you can find that there so -- you know. What I guess the question now as we saw that the political earthquake take place in New Jersey. We're turning point swing in a year Virginia 25 point swing any year. The question is how -- the blue dog Democrats interpret those election results. And will ultimately impact their vote on this and could this bill now die as a result of Tuesday's election."
" So on I think they've already begun to interpret the impact of this the -- past week's election. And by the way let me say congratulations to -- governors elect. Christie and McDonnell for excellent campaign providing those convert conservative principles out there for. Other people of their state to wrap around those policies but I think with respect to health care they've already define for themselves that this is a loser. And that's why all the sudden all the guarantees about the vote this weekend it's falling apart right before Nancy's on."
" Michael I've got to ask you there are more conservatives. That more angry. At the process in the New York 23 deaths including myself. -- including mate Scott Skiles of -- and I had you on my radio show we have a pretty tough interview before the election. And and you pointed out you were not responsible for selecting her. But here's the question there wasn't a single conservative. Position she had but yet the Republican Party -- 900000 dollars to her. What assurances can you give your conservative base. As the chair of the Republican National Committee that this doesn't happen again."
" Well I can give did you know I'm kind of caught in a quandary here let me address this in two ways number one the 900000 dollars that the national Republican congressional committee. Spent was not on the Scott the father campaign if there were ads that -- run against bill -- so they work. There were anti Owens ads they were not Gaza fava. Dollars that went into her account so those ads would have been run against the democratic nominee regardless who put who was -- it was Hoffman or Scott the father. Those that's would have been run number one number two. I'm Reynolds a little bit of a quandary here because on the national chairman I don't get to make these choices that city before. They're chosen at the local level level in this case by a small group of individuals not through a primary process which is why we have the mess we have. And the Senecal part here Sean. It's that this wasn't a bottle like the F congressman -- about getting hands on the seat of a senate seat that Owens was holding. So they would nominate someone who would draw Owens out of that seat into that race because I always thought they could beat them. That I can assure you will not happen I'm look what last question can you assure your conservative base with first what was there ever one issue you agree with thousands Folbaum that you knew up. Now. It wasn't my -- I have my -- it was not the choice I would have made -- and the reality of this. I'm stuck with the nominee that the party put in the in the local community are puts out there so. All right what do better next time appreciate it thanks for being us."
