" The Federal Communications Commission voted an agreed to begin work on -- ready for this. Regulating the Internet. The last bastion of free and open expression left in America. First they want to regulate a free market banking insurance automobile manufacturing. That they want to regulate the media and now they -- regulate the Internet. Is nothing sacred. From government intervention. In what is supposed to be our free and open society. According Internet experts and advocates like our next guest. The FCC's proposal through proposals to regulate. Are based on bad and ambiguous data similar to almost everything else the government does joining me now is Shelly Rocha -- that TV. -- welcome back to freedom watch."
" I it's great to be back thank you wanna -- wanna regulate the Internet I mean if if that doesn't work why have been in the works right why not leave it alone. -- I mean that's really the big issue here is that. Right now there's really no justification. To change the way things are working. You know acting CR Eddie had these guiding principle in place that. Deal with net neutrality and if -- if he decides to violate some of these principles you know there any here from their customers they're gonna have an irate customer base -- And even if that doesn't keep -- in mind they still have the threat of FTC action because of these principles that are currently in place what what what the regulations that are what are."
" Regulations that are -- challenge suppose that Internet service provider where to say two way you'll led by TV. Dot com while we don't like the content of what you're saying so we're gonna limit you to twenty rather than 24 hours a day. What what recourse would you have against that provide."
" Well I think my my biggest recourse would be -- You know the people who follow. My day my content and that sort of thing and if they weren't able to access and they were upset about that they would let the Internet provider know. But if that didn't work then the SEC. Does have. You know that the authority to then go in and investigate and see what's going on and then in and take some action so. There have been a few cases in the past where it has been necessary but you know -- despite what everybody's claiming it's really kind of."
" And over blown. Out the year I would think Shelley that if an Internet service provider. Was trying to affect the content of the speech. A someone that was using the provider the user would just go to another provider because so many providers around. One hit the free market solve the problem that the FCC mentions in its own creative brain. Exists in reality."
" Yes I mean absolutely that's the way it that's the way it works you vote with your wallet you know you you pay money to support a company that gives you a product that you think is value well. And once that product something valuable you move onto another product and we do have you know options for different kinds of Internet access and if your provider stops. Giving you the content you want in the way that you want it and you can simply switch to another provider so you and you can see that these changes are really. Not necessary at this. Point what are the regulations that have actually been proposed. And what would they do and how would they interfere with free speech. Well there there -- subtle changes but important changes to kind of the existing principles and it really. They get into some kind of technical detail but in in general there there are requiring -- for example. An iPhone you can't connect it to your computer and use it as a modem to access the Internet on your computer. So one of the one of the new changes would force iphones to allow. Laptops and computers to connect to them to access the Internet. So in one of the repercussions of this is that iPhone isn't gonna offer there you know basic low priced plan because they're gonna have to pay. Four a lot higher usage of bandwidth because -- because of connecting these other devices to."
" There's just not enough regulation here and eat less freedom as I'm using my lap."
" You know actually admit that a lot of that some of the biggest proponents of net neutrality the supporters. And how are probably socialist and -- are pushing this because they think the Internet is their right and that it should be a public utility. And it nobody should have to pay for it and furthermore things like add. Shouldn't be allowed anything that age you know capitalistic. Approach to the Internet you know way to monetize. The disease activities on the Internet should be kind of done away with it should be fought and that's kind of the where these people are."
" And from you know occasionally asked about his or anybody who goes on their laptop and says. There's not enough regulation but I should have not been surprised that your answer because. Here we go again Shelley with the big government types confusing. Good. Like a laptop and the Internet with a right like freedom of thought and freedom of expression they would probably have a government issued. -- owned Internet and issued laptop that they can have their way."
" Yes right an -- you know there's been talk of getting this stay involved in in the media and it's kind of it's big this big. Plan that they haven't -- that kind of where it starts this is how to get the ball rolling so yeah we really don't want. This to happen we want things that they -- our you know everything's working great now. Let's keep it that way tell me about -- style TV what you guys are up to. Well it's basically a site where you know I posed little. Bite sized action alerts so that you -- few if something comes up like if SEC net neutrality thing and you know other issues the Federal Reserve and what have you. When when actionable items come up that are pretty easy to do. I like to let people know about it in -- just keep people posted on what's going on -- and things that they should know that they may not hear about on in that regular media outlet."
" Roche it's always a pleasure thanks for coming back to freedom much. Safer having -- to be back. You can catch they show on foxnews.com. Slash freedom watch and I'm serious 145 XM 168. Or online at Fox News talk dot com at 6 PM eastern on Saturdays from New York defending freedom. Until the next time state free America."
