" Nineteen people face indictment in two separate democratic campaigns there involving absentee ballot fraud."
" How easy is it steal an election with absentee ballots the last who he told you about an investigation in New York with 38 absentee ballots were thrown out. -- other allegations there against both Democrats and Republicans and take a look at that map. Turns out there are at least a dozen states across the country where there are allegations. Of absentee voter fraud. Joining us now to talk more about this is Brosnan. As the secretary of state of Nevada who has taken on voter fraud in his state. His office break in the case against acorn there there's -- trial in Las Vegas. And Jan Tyler former Denver elections commissioner who writes the election reform examiner column for examiner dot com. Mr. Miller and Jan welcome to a fox is sending this morning. Thank you -- Jack let me -- I mean how easy. About absentee ballots right here voters that we talked to said they never fill these out. How easy is it actually to steal an election with absentee ballots."
" Very easy and back to a couple of days ago the people that we're. Shoveling snow in my driveway told me up in their neighborhood. There are six or seven absentee ballots sent to dead people. On one street and one place like Denver so if you multiply that out it can be quite easy to fraudulently vote absentee ballot."
" Well who does this summoned in New Jersey for example there were reported 2300 absentee ballots that don't even match the signatures let's say the race in New Jersey is so close. In -- fraud actually decide something like that."
" It does as you know you mentioned they try -- New York. Before that in Hoboken and 2007. There were incidents up people actually being paid to. Fill out these ballots and so the process doesn't just start with the actual ballot it starts with the application for the ballot."
" Mr. Miller you're the secretary of state of one of your duties of course is to prevent fraud. How can officials like yourself -- actually do that."
" You know you've got to have safeguards in the system first of all which we do you know who we require in Nevada. As it on many jurisdictions that you sign an original signature to request an absentee ballot. Can we compare the signatures when they come in and also verify the identity of the person that's attempting to register. And then most importantly if you've got to hold people accountable when you find serious election law violations and and I think that's were that this country has probably been deficient. -- in that we've we've got to take seriously our election -- on the books. And go after aggressive prosecutions for the violations that we defined and they did you say do you think that this has really taken seriously got the case have been. And try New York we found a dozen cases around the country right now I mean what actually happens when -- finance. The I think it varies from jurisdiction to jurisdiction Lou we're fortunate here in Nevada. My former boss the elected district attorney Clark County David Roger. Found in a sense of absentee ballot fraud in 2002. Took an aggressive step and went after those individuals where they were at a bar registering patrons. Two fictional addresses and just filling out those forms and sit filling up those ballots and sending a man. You know when he held them accountable and obtain a conviction. That a ten a lot of news coverage in Nevada and I think that went a long ways to deterring that those types of abuses here in Nevada so it's not something that I think we've seen in Nevada. Overall across the country I don't think it's widespread because the system does have safeguards. But it's important that when you do find those violations that you go after people and push for aggressive criminal prosecutions. You know people don't take it lightly. Otherwise they will try to game the system."
" I think that's the word that people have they would do if if if it's Condit their first of all they want to be -- The second of all that the prosecution's. Aren't that taken as seriously as they should that's so finally mr. Miller your sense of what we can expect to base and now. We do have a a cases around the country."
" If this I can't I don't know specifics of those other jurisdictions but in Nevada we have about 10% of our overall bouts. Cast by absentee ballot and that's important obviously we want to make it easy for those people. The vote you know which include which would include our military women men and women serving overseas. But it should be hard to -- And I think there are safeguards in the system we can we verify the identity of people attempting to register. And then you compare the signatures which is the same process we have in most jurisdictions when people show up at the polling locations -- and but to the extent that we do find election law violations -- get a hold them accountable."
" All right -- last word which will account for -- in 48 hours. Well I disagree only slightly and that I do think it might be widespread it may not be more than 39 beds here one there. But I agreed that officials need to be diligent and by the way. There is a history of non prosecution actually which is one of the issues in fact here in Denver in 1904. We have the distinction of having the first woman. Ever arrested for voter fraud in person voter fraud and of course she was not convicted for lack of evidence and so that's generally how it goes."
" Okay we'll see what happens a forty hour eight hours will be on top of that and I thank you both Russ Miller the secretary of state of Nevada and -- Tyler of the examiner. -- coming on with us this morning here on the Fox News Channel thank you."
