" We're back with former congressman Tom DeLay and and congressman just before the break we were talking about. The health care bill that sort of a heavy handedness that you're seeing in and you mentioned the blue dogs. -- Democrats have enough votes they can pass this to keep acting like it's the Republicans it's keeping this from happening that is so not true. If they really want this to happen why is this bill having so much trouble. Well has a lot to do with politics. What makes policy is also doing is letting as many of the that are members off especially those. Blue dogs. That are sitting in formerly held Republican seats. Those people are gonna vote now so they can go home say I voted no I don't have any responsibility for us that's what's going going on right now. So she has to craft a bill that gets 200. 18220. Votes and then let all the vulnerable. All her vulnerable people off. To vote no so then go home and talk about. Not having -- and we shouldn't let them buy with that you know you mentioned this in his very true there were a lot of people who elected in 2006 and even mourn 2008. As Democrats who ran to the right of the Republican -- they ran -- pro life. Pro Second Amendment pro marriage Democrats -- we're gonna cut taxes and balance the budget -- ran as Republicans that they got elected because in some cases Republican. Acted like he was a shame to the platform well I wouldn't go that far but yeah. But -- right that's exactly and so they're sitting there and they're worried to death because Michael you have all this team up tea party movement. Most of those -- parties are in those kinds of district try and and it's going to be critical. If if the for those tea parties to get a hold of those members to make sure they vote no. -- particularly in the next few days because that's. That's when the pressure is gonna come -- want to open up a topic we we -- it just before the break. When you left congress it wasn't just because you are sick of it but. You were the recipient of a real heavy handed indictment and prosecution. Over four years ago still never been brought to trial. Has politics become more about attacking individuals and challenging positions used to and I got into politics probably when you did it -- you you run a campaign they try to destroy your reputation that's not good enough anymore. It's now -- there criminalizing politics say it's not good enough to ruin one's reputation. Now they want approach in prison destroy your family bankrupt you put -- six foot under. And just totally destroyed I went through eleven years of ethics charges after ethics charges are dismissed as frivolous in a racketeering suit didn't have filed against me it's and I'm indicted right now. On laws that didn't exist in Texas. Broke district attorneys -- six grand juries until he found one. Indicted on laws that don't exist in this cast a long history of going after people with this kind of approach where he Democrats and republic exactly but I mean political -- a whole -- career. Yeah out of criminalizing people cause he didn't agree necessarily with their politics are one and up into the career. You've had huge legal expenses out of this haven't you over eleven years I've I've had to raise and over a million dollars annually eight million dollars our audience gasped audibly -- when I heard that -- And people wonder why don't. Other folks wanna get into politics and run for office I'm seeing that that effect as I travel around the country people coming means you know I really wonder. Run for office but -- I don't put my family through that. And them and it's discouraging a lot of good people. Especially at a time when American people are begging for leaders down to come forward and and lead this country. It's it's having a detrimental effect and frankly that they like that too you know I hear that all the time people say oh man I wouldn't go through that I'm glad -- people will. And the tragedy is we gotta have people of integrity and honor and frankly of conviction who will run for school board and City Council and that state represented and for congress and the Senate and if they don't then we're basically left to people that that really. Probably ought to be indicted -- or maybe now we can have a dance a week in Washington DC."
" They're trying to come go dancing up a hand up and stop all that -- I got an idea Tom you need to ask Nancy Pelosi to join you on the -- Days' notice. -- Nancy Pelosi on Dancing With The Stars I love it. Conceivably could do we are active professor Tom DeLay thank you very much what a pleasure. So grateful. When it's American --"
