" It was just something in my Irish -- heritage. I thought I was right Irish American can you. So. It was something they needed to be done because a lot of veterans were being. Put out of business because of it's. And I. I looked in the mirror and I said well you're gonna roll over I'm gonna fight them so. I decided down to fight them."

" And you did so very successfully we're talking about an old -- from the eighteen -- it basically. And exemptions that two have been disabled from out being street vendors and he said this is my hot dog cart that's what applies. And then state senator -- jumps and it helps out tell us I took on the --"

" Well this is really David versus Goliath battle bill's been harassed for many years. From the tax collectors to local law enforcement all because they misunderstood this. Over a hundred year old law so. We took it on and we want to clarify it -- the -- veteran's committee and all the way through the legislature by. We're glad that we got a system not only for bill -- for veterans around the state. And especially -- veterans coming home."

" We had a nice celebration and I just you know. I served during the Vietnam conflict in Europe and I came home in -- New Jersey. And this I had right to live out in California. Well I made a lot of friends here it is stated it's a beautiful place today. And people really care about each other here and we had a nice party yesterday we certainly -- and had a lot of hot dogs lot of cake and just real good feeling. Joining together Republicans Democrats -- didn't matter and one thing I'm very proud of is the law that was passed. Passed unanimously. Both in the house and our state senate. And Governor Schwarzenegger was very eager to assignments to help us so it'll help the returning vets."

" I wouldn't say it was an easy battle but you know we certainly worked hard to make sure that. Every member Republican and Democrat understood the issues but trying to pass any type of tax cut right now across the nation is a difficult thing. We made the case for disabled veterans that not only was this historic in California but it was the right thing to do."
