New numbers and Labor Department this morning thirty minutes ago showing 531000. Jobs lost in the past week. That's almost the size of metro Atlanta Georgia. Good morning from New York City I'm Bill Hemmer welcome -- to America's news in the morning. -- might have seen -- today for Megyn Kelly now those numbers are coming out of the Labor Department says 23 states reported higher unemployment in September. Even more troubling -- 49 of the fifty states have reportedly lost jobs. Since the federal stimulus plan was an active back in February that was the plan administration said. Would create three and a half million jobs instead. Two point seven million jobs have been lost a net for a difference rather six point two million. I now you wonder how Washington got the so wrong Greg McBride as my guest not a Florida Greg good morning to you how did we get it's are wrong. -- it odd thing is bill if you know there have been some what people called green -- with regard to the broad economy it. We're not seeing that in the labor market unemployment continues to rise and this is not evidence that employers are willing to take the plunge in higher. And we're getting the hopes of a renewed dose of that information with these weekly unemployment -- some of the worst is -- some of the stories you heard from employers and I'll say I can do without -- these people. So -- royal mosque for. Perhaps a very long time if not forever I mentioned forty out of fifty states. What they're doing right North Dakota drag that's the -- statement apparently added jobs. Now I think a lot of people probably looking to move the North Dakota that's where the jobs are -- the period of unemployment is getting longer and longer bill there are currently five million people. Nationally there have been out of work longer than six months and so we have to consider that. What we look at these filings because what we're seeing is that continuing claims. Have actually declined. But it's not declined because employers are adding job it's why because people are seeing their benefits expire after having been out of work for so we'll -- we look at the unemployment number this is to continue climb northward on -- not nine point 8% going back to last month in September. With that as a backdrop with a White House and argues they say look we be in a much more difficult situation now have we not enacted this stimulus plan of last February. Now do you buy that."
