You know it didn't stop -- if you were thinking mechanism needs to be with iPod touch this new iPod -- announcement he think that it's gonna stop people they're planning on getting actually doing."

" More VMware and where and I knew a lot of people who we basically knew that -- were -- be and update the iPod touch September and so when -- in the announcer over the summer. A lot of people said well. I want to wait and see what apple announces and then I'll really commit because people been able to pre orders for a few weeks now I think. A lot of these aside and telling me. I want to wait and see whether apples and about the price what kind of features they might. And since the iPod touch as Michaels has more it was more of evolutionary upgrade to two device and like a significant upgrade significant change. I think it actually. Kind of reassured some people think now that what if not -- getting it needs to I still think that them. That buzz and interest hasn't really broken out beyond that sort of corporate early adopters got I'm not sure that it's going to it's an early adopters yeah --"

" That's a problem at a post Microsoft does have an answer I don't know. Is that basically scrap rest in line and not everyone's gonna want to go to touch each case is unique they have. A problem right now dealing with the -- which is kind of got that step in the market all to itself. And a lot of new features and find that -- is not going up against touches. Bumping up against the touch yeah it's also fighting against a -- without such an -- because 64 gigabyte touch. -- HD 32 -- that's another problem for for Microsoft isn't."

" I mean -- that is that is a problem to a certain extent. But that that the real fun I had asking questions watching this apple event. Is the speculation. -- camera on the touch accidental or on purpose. A lot of people have been speculating constantly. That the touch would essentially received the iPhone three -- camera which is 83 megapixel still and almost dvd quality video camera. And it didn't show up and they've -- two theories about why not. One is simply. Apple wanted to put a camera in it couldn't find the appropriate camera module that worked well enough in time it'll come as soon as they can sources from China. The second one which is a conspiracy theory and I love conspiracy theories when they have to do with apple. Is that apple was worried that touch with to close the -- to the iPhone. We'll cannibalize iPhone that customers in the US because iPhone customers are sent disgruntled but they can't take them. I know that we can see if that's true they both sound plausible but I."

" I thought if -- Sorry you're a consumer buying in the marketplace. You can't afford it right now. And we saw the numbers question nothing wells. You -- Natalie you've got features that even the tough guys don't. Went to Steve's got you in the UQ -- good about that product right yeah hence to Steve's point to Q&A David Pogue asks that question about why was their camera in the iPod touch and while we -- keep this game and it never believe. We've never able yeah it's always used I don't know if he's in his direction -- to launch an. It's a ticket so much for statement is important is this notion that since I've only got 140 dollars to spend. I still get something you'd see that the touch guys -- yeah and I get -- satisfaction out of -- How would you use -- you wanted to get this new iPod nano was the video was at the tipping point for you you know I watch some of the video examples and apparently the -- not that great so I don't know. I don't know that it's gonna replace -- war but -- he have a flip I have a flip now."

" What you have people here in the chatroom saying look I'd like to get the video nano I have a flip Mino HD. And that's the size. I would love it if it was nano size and had a nice size of screen but that's the problem here this is. This is the HD and it is a pretty big device I mean and so this is that this is a question and and -- maybe you can -- they went on vacation you just on the trip. Q how many devices do you bring you bring -- I -- our best present. What can we do -- bring there the camera for the nice shots they wanna bring the bring a little mini. Cam -- that they have -- to flip HDL and openness but. You get the point is pretty B device its actually. It's -- it's not a size of a pack -- cigarettes not gonna smoke but it's about that size. And of course the nano is razor thin. Wouldn't it be nice to have a device that captures all of those things percent of -- having did -- all these different gadgets."

" Yeah I'm gonna think there are a lot of people letters and not just in the same way that -- I think we don't buy a -- digital camera now because they pretty good pictures on the top right right why would you buy. What if you spend the money -- it decent shots. I think that. Sounds like -- saying if you're you know wanna take photos of your kid like birthday party might wanna do -- cameras have better memories that I think that's one reason why someone might buy. The Mino HD which is you you know high Def camera for 200 bucks round -- to -- much higher quality you're gonna get out the nano or even out of your your iPhone."

" So was -- supposed to be Cameron the iPod touch. Rumor said yes but -- an apples and does so I guess there wasn't mean we thought we find those -- spokesman. I mean this was the group the big question because if if there was camera on the iPod touch that would have been you know everyone wanted to nano everyone wants across all these devices and then you have this in HD rolling out soon. That would have been the one thing that apple could have said look we've got video everywhere. And now -- is this weird sort of hole in its product lines that not."

" My doesn't work right now because in India does video but not so Bright -- I've doesn't do photo or video. That the iPhone three G does photo but not media it says that -- the -- just -- bridges -- justice that he -- the iPhone three G that's not right right now so."

" And it's still a market but I'd much interest segment across product on Fred I want 64 gigs I've got to go touch but want an iPhone -- segment there -- I have but I I -- it's kind of where I can't get a sixteen. And I think that they're you know the average consumer might -- you know confused by that and not enough -- five night -- apple -- pretty good job of showing off. -- I think consumers are gonna get it gives him only -- apple doesn't -- These things they're -- well yeah they're gonna show this is video only if you haven't had his -- in new iPod nano. Commercial they they showed that at the at the speech as well and Clinton people. Apple is just giving people a reason to buy and you know and right. -- good economic times won't vote exactly because the touch is your the touch is your app. Platform it's your gaming machine it's here it's your netbook I like to claim and the nano now is your music player -- your account that don't -- Andy I haven't seen this in and and in an apple --"

" Before they really -- this little camera so let's take a look at the apple come back and talk about it. You have the right Kevin. --"

" He -- you know that banned -- Cool. We I think the ad is it it's sort of are we wanna what you know we're still playing music we -- music we've got the video now. It's what we're coming after. Those guys have gotten so -- offices -- Apple has put them in the process so Al we. I think if I was the -- he's absolutely -- I wanna carry two devices. -- 640 by 480 is is good enough for most videos or is it different now I mean is it because it. You know the device you're carrying two to Peter's point you're carrying a device like a flip page Steve because you want the higher quality video and -- quarter market. And that's you're going after the camp quarter -- wants a small cam -- That's good for casual videos if you've got the nano if you got your iPhone three G yes but it's not going to capture. That great birthday party the -- that you wanna probably capture it -- yeah I think the problem with the -- with the flip cameras that. They're the easiest there cannibalized by cellphone camera -- My hope is that -- like a high end you know point and shoot camera that's you know auto focus and face detection really can. You better things but what's -- quality. -- This is went in striking this what -- like the Kodak CIA and -- at this Nvidia's fantastic in this software. Yeah first especially for text or video right where you're not shooting movies shooting at a critical moment but you want but -- camera and do short videos over to our Christmas predictions -- on the line is an -- the biggest selling iPod of the season -- with the iPod touch -- And but. Nano which it wasn't before right that the the the touch had -- it sales numbers I'm not mistaken right you touched was a hundred million touching them that is that they did. It -- forgotten their courtrooms but it's -- hundred million -- more longer but they've got twenty million. I don't know that there's -- reason really upgraded you have an iPod touch right. Upgrade to this woman just came out words I have an old and I know there is -- reason to upgrade -- we think Christmas. Aniston and and it was a frightening thing accounts and also if the economy doesn't come back people are going to be looking at -- devices -- that's. Yeah we think it's going to be -- and I think they're both pretty darn well -- it was where people's economy is. When they walk into that -- for the council council but -- it's more raffles and working towards it. There's features that are. Things. Now you saying that based on the fact that you may we may in fact C camera in the iPod touch before Christmas I -- I -- like and we should we should we should explain the problem to -- there were all those rumors and you know of course that there was a problem the chip. There was a problem and it the last minute which sort strikes -- amazing and and you guys speak to this what I can but at the last minute like that when you're about to ship a product. And the chip is problematic we've what was all the cases that had a camera. Hole in these cases that it could have been an iPod touch with a camera. -- you report that quickly. And then to -- new iPod touch is -- don't have a camera that quickly future presumed lost them the last minute and wasn't done intentionally and you know we heard a lot of respect tablets. -- it's someone else so does that and as a last minute for consumer electronics products. To beat. Them on it right the rumors -- Brooke you know couple weeks before hand but who knows what people were seeing what things. Hey if you know people to fake images out there -- you understand that's right here. So I was reading -- chat room wants to know is -- video recording done in landscape mode yet I think it is you have to flip it to the side which is where because it's at the bottom two. So if you move your hand around you kinda have to get used to stick your finger by Ralph on for a few days and the question why is that site abort mode -- you. Yet there's only fifteen and fifty special fifteen special effects -- pretty cool. And surprise that you know there there again -- a differentiation in the market have a sort of fun kids -- like effects of the different colors for -- you don't have that the iPhone three -- yes you don't have. Different video -- that one's you know. What you know when video capture these devices are options -- recent -- ultimately spent a lot of time talking about the call -- hours ago off. Why they'd be gone with these -- notice there's don't know well one. -- yeah."

" presume yeah I think you may see some frustration from consumers who. Pick one of those special modes and then realize don't realize that -- the original. Without the movies well you can switch that you bring up this you have to be in the viewfinder if it were that the special boat when you have put reports that you can't do by accident it's very important. Let's put up -- the picture Kevin you had a picture up there earlier of the apps store. Yeah. The settings for the app store. -- you applications folder within your iPods you're -- Your iPod or -- or iPhone settings within iTunes so the other being announced was iTunes nine. My biggest might -- as -- the bit and she's the biggest excitement for the day was this. The fact that I've spent an hour moving apps around the screen. But it seemed to me a lot of stuff that we saw on iTunes nine. We saw some these updates reminded me a little bit of like what snow leopard. Did for leopard which is a lot of these upgrades that perhaps should have been a little while ago that we haven't seen but now making -- big to do about it with an apple that my wrong talk."

" Yeah. Well I mean I think there's always raise expectations any time there's an apple and I think people have amnesia about this forget that there have been lots of apple events where there have been that major products announced or major is huge huge I mean no Apple's only -- entries and you product category -- device. And people so I mean that the idea that that and iTunes ninth and ninth version lead by definition it's you know we're talking."

" Yeah we're gonna -- from iTunes one's nine -- sort of thing with snow leopard the leopard came out I took up an old machine running ten point one. Wow what a huge difference ten point one to ten point six. And you go back to iTunes want. It's dramatically different these incremental changes but. -- about it was you have to -- iTunes yeah and part of it comes as they used -- it's more sophisticated young people only have one screen about him now that care. When your users like us in the either nine screens apps and you try to organize them -- in the same thing with -- breaking ability that I can. Sick playlist and -- specific artists or specific episodes podcasts race you're paying for doing now really easy."

" So it's Arab guests are increasing the -- doesn't work the iPod touch is that true."

" Via an update or get out of it up to its iTunes like personnel and -- to update you may also have to take -- on three point one which is a five dollar charge. For an iPod touch -- now. If you haven't got the real if you haven't got 30 it's okay. 331 it's free it's 21 to three it costs -- you upgraded yet -- iTunes I don't have an iPod touch for an iPhone. -- I haven't upgraded. We a lot of people -- say they haven't updated yet a little worried about some things one of these it may be worried about. Upgrading to iTunes nine is if you have a home pretty. Once again apple should officer dean yeah I mean losing his back back and forth tit for tat I yet you know -- out all of them -- until someone gets fired. Yeah I think -- it's free marketing for -- Yes every time I to apple breaks it. The gadget blogs and Rick -- and every time apple doesn't harm. Subtly positions apple as acting like Microsoft was in the nineties. They find a way to make apple look out even if apple probably is. -- I talk at the -- they actually like this new. At moving screen because it allows them allows them to show off the apps that they have on there on their screen and so it gives. Developers -- or perhaps even more yeah so they get I think this will be very popular."

" I talk about that from a developer standpoint you deal with a lot of startups that senator networks and the one of the things it was highlighted at the keynote. Keynote. Yeah sure -- Presentation -- is talking about the way in which apps are now the genius feature in the apps which will give. App because you know right now how many apps are on their forty thousands. Selling 5000 I -- forget. Kate it is hard to -- of trying to find good quality -- are on the featured page so. From a developer standpoint -- to be great things we will have recommended things that are in the same thing that might elevate these. Groups from the bottom right now yeah I actually ran a story the other day from somebody who actually got -- feature. And how much how much it drove the sales straight -- you know to whom. So being featured is obviously -- great thing and being able to find things that your interest in and is also obviously very important. And it becomes harder art -- 75 maps yeah and when you're working with some of these developers who are startups who are looking to. In any feature to attack US was developing strictly for the iPhone they of course get featured at the apple events like this. When you're working with apple when -- work with developers start -- finding that they're doing. Developing for the iPhone or android are you looking at different sort of sort of wanted to move into these different spaces. I think obviously iPhone is most popular. Because developers also use the iPhone. Right so it makes sense of just build what they know. For me I have a sorrow and my customers -- business customers they're asking every -- for Blackberry application. I don't get as many requests for a while he's such a comment on that would it would it what is. Why why why why don't we have -- and why is -- android handle these problems with trying to get a place you know. Just looking for and a simple way to update and -- push how to podcasts in the android android space. It's difficult to find."

" What if I understand -- android. Android came to market very early in its proper very early in its process almost as as a as -- developers beta. Thank you can't even to -- you can even think of the T-Mobile G1 as a consumer device. That was the android -- one proving ground -- What you're seeing now this quarter as you CV HTC hero hit as you see the Motorola click or whatever they wanna call it a hit. That's almost the first round of truly finished android devices and -- I think yesterday we were hearing that CEO of I NQ. Their their at feature phone maker from Europe saying you know what that android market yet it needs help we're gonna do that. Next year if Google doesn't fix -- we're going to fix it so I think. A lot -- and and I definitely jumped on me. Diane -- bandwagon about six months ago."

" But I'm reconsidering saying that we were saying that too -- because and we're just came out very early next year it's gonna look a lot more --"

" Some people -- asking chatter about iTunes -- were talking you guys -- jump in about this other problems with upgrading why would not want to upgrade iTunes nine. Have there been any problems without I've heard some sort of scattered reports of trouble -- across different devices but I don't know what you guys heard anything and that many. Widespread reports out there -- here."

" Someone has always been -- in -- persecution vocal but it's great upgrade and if you are -- you go -- control and if -- more than one computer running iTunes. And you want to consolidate -- is battle wounds we're very as I discovered stuff like chains -- know was on one computer. There was one so it's like anything else were missing from the apple event that we want to touch on. Anything else that this track record with anyone."

" I -- to mention that. He is is is Paul is is -- suicidal I mean it. The apple event. So completely squash the -- launch it was comical because. As the apple event was going on I was still writing com -- hands on coverage. And I got to watch. The things I was publishing about the -- get so."

Until it was six point one. -- six point one is out late last night yesterday so you need to upgrade apple says it fixes some bugs and also I don't know what else it does. -- never know right. That's -- your questions now you want. For integrating. All of these various places we -- formations in ways we talked to people on the web and and through the Internet. --"

" moto -- blur which was the application which sort of aggregates all of these different social networking features FaceBook Twitter MySpace. Your address book and sort of pulls all of that information together with one logging -- able to manipulate and do different things with in that same applications. L I ask you from a developer standpoint that's got to be pretty exciting for developers you're talking to these guys and listening to where there's their heads Iraq. We have a social networking trying to monetize social networking for UG GPS and location based software what sort what sorts of things you hearing from startups I think."

" Developers want to -- where there's a market and where they feel like they're part of their element which is why the iPhone is so popular. Right so I don't I don't know enough about this really comment except that you know if you look at even the -- market of the android market you don't see as many developers there. And you know it's going to be hard but the truth is is that. I think if these companies if these companies go after developers they may actually start to do that are. Because if you get the developers excited about it you get more apps built for it and you'll get more interest in the right 75000 apps. The apple store. How many are there for --"

" Well that's 7000 for android -- OS. Is an exciting product -- is so we're gonna run out by for the software. I'm not sure that's really -- to get people that excited. It's -- partners -- and indifference in this. And if we're in the -- for everyone else that Apple's rights act so aggressively. Did you guys. Now. This is certainly apple is priced -- the larger subsidies it more well. Whatever where whoever votes -- split that is what has not that but it is. You know Motorola was -- has been hemorrhaging cash for a long time they they made -- big -- on the RAZR. And -- squeeze every last drop because -- Form and that -- them. -- right yeah so they basically that the farm now on android and Dimitris whole bunch of an android devices. I'm not sure that this is really going to be enough for them I think that if you look at each TC HTC building a lot of stuff on top android that looks better -- is somewhat more interesting that."

" You -- hero and the thing is right what HT CD with android was it totally. Finished it -- right Andrew releases unfinished product. -- you -- really the first commercial and we're partners finished but they also. Basic -- revamped everything the only reports that they -- skin did. -- lot more than just one now that's the problem with -- does want to that it really nice stuff but this sort of one application. Visitors get out of that -- your back into stock android. Right and -- android is not that -- or complete the question is how deep does this go is this plunked into the phone book the calendar. The mail program does it is because it does this connectivity at ten rolls into all of the basic applications that we're talking something interesting as opposed to just. A social networking -- Right and it's not clear they didn't seem to show that level of integration and that's why I was concerned I'm pretty sure it's."

" In the address book and it's it's across your contacts and it's pulling from its aggregating information that you -- you have on your phone through. Your I'm pretty sure it through your different stuff that you've already float program into your address book. Pulling from your from your FaceBook account pulling from -- space and looking at those different things you're not having to jump through different -- to get to that information."

" I mean Paul tried in the superior it was synergy -- you pulling it. Knowing your social network. There everything was in a separate out everything was tightly integrated and ACC's doing that the end entry is well on here or where I can get this integrated view FaceBook in my contacts out though but it's not separate out. Think you like him. I -- yeah."

" You like -- and balanced perspective on this -- from the developer standpoint but. This is a unique moment because maybe -- moving towards having totaled one place we go to get this information or we gonna keep seeing these disparate forms do you think. Terms in terms of what social networking enviable pusher information quickly upload photos --"

" I think I didn't think people are gonna you know it. Just like you wanna be able taxes all -- different services on.
