She got a little extra sleep right. Well I was dealing with I was telling the palm pixie over here and that's a Motorola stuff as well I think there's enough for both -- and honestly it was -- crazy busy week so we're gonna get to -- talk a little about the moral click coming up -- a little bit. Also Alan -- the show he's the editor center networks dot com great to see you Allan thanks for joining us. And we're gonna get to some of the other big news of the week. Windows seven we have the windows seven commercial they showed you. And we're gonna get my faith. So let's while we're working closely to prepare for things. -- That's how we do it we're in this -- studio and a new digs here so we're trying to make sure that mikes are up and running so Peter problems with -- Michael your presence throughout the Big Apple event this week you were sitting there watching the watching all the festivities unfold re expecting like this you have the inside -- Steve Jobs."
" smart and brings these out and waited. It has -- becomes the open that was room absence becomes the story. Got out there. -- Early on -- It's a year. Ago. -- But -- also point out some. Couples. But -- issue while. But it reminds us that there's more people that opens the -- It was what was expected revolutionary. Products couple of revolutionary features. -- themselves -- quality in the -- regional impressions of the movement this week."
" I watched him from New York City I think from my perspective. Do you think was the new -- Acts like one parent have a second generation nano and I think -- from. Yeah I think some of the big to be talking points he came out of it Steve back on stage. IPod nano with with FM transmit it to get a much played I was wondering why now theatre receiver the receiver Jerry FM -- FM receiver. 152 buffer time and it. Is that right so so -- and an annual DVR it. Right fifteen minute lost his initial report for fifteen seconds. Fifteen minutes that's pretty sweet. But why now. -- Yeah chips come with the review built in features there were offers those. You've got the features essentially -- you wanna. I think it also ties and store them you can click to buy the songs so why not just -- right right well that's the key. You know other players and -- apple really or different way you -- future with axes or -- it. But once you got to review all -- but the lesson is always never. Have access -- here there's definitely more. We don't -- from -- our vices at all so there's definitely. We've surprise you."
" actually a little surprise and -- surprised at how little attention it got considered. For years and years yours now for both from apple. And equipment. But also from a lot of consumers that they do you want. You obviously fan -- even looking for the Zune -- right and actually and I think it's getting old. A lot of traction on these entities you -- lot of interest from people there. Because -- for Zune had a radio. Chris Iannetta radio and obvious that the did you know audio video playback. And that message that gains and I think -- Really more iPod touch competitor have full. Touch screen -- touch screen. Vegetable apps and games -- but."
" Want to ask you a few minutes about it you post something -- yesterday about you know is this what was that the is iPod touch. You know it didn't stop -- if you were thinking mechanism needs to be with iPod touch this new iPod -- announcement he think that it's gonna stop people they're planning on getting actually doing."
" More VMware and where and I knew a lot of people who we basically knew that -- were -- be and update the iPod touch September and so when -- in the announcer over the summer. A lot of people said well. I want to wait and see what apple announces and then I'll really commit because people been able to pre orders for a few weeks now I think. A lot of these aside and telling me. I want to wait and see whether apples and about the price what kind of features they might. And since the iPod touch as Michaels has more it was more of evolutionary upgrade to two device and like a significant upgrade significant change. I think it actually. Kind of reassured some people think now that what if not -- getting it needs to I still think that them. That buzz and interest hasn't really broken out beyond that sort of corporate early adopters got I'm not sure that it's going to it's an early adopters yeah --"
" That's a problem at a post Microsoft does have an answer I don't know. Is that basically scrap rest in line and not everyone's gonna want to go to touch each case is unique they have. A problem right now dealing with the -- which is kind of got that step in the market all to itself. And a lot of new features and find that -- is not going up against touches. Bumping up against the touch yeah it's also fighting against a -- without such an -- because 64 gigabyte touch. -- HD 32 -- that's another problem for for Microsoft isn't."
" I mean -- that is that is a problem to a certain extent. But that that the real fun I had asking questions watching this apple event. Is the speculation. -- camera on the touch accidental or on purpose. A lot of people have been speculating constantly. That the touch would essentially received the iPhone three -- camera which is 83 megapixel still and almost dvd quality video camera. And it didn't show up and they've -- two theories about why not. One is simply. Apple wanted to put a camera in it couldn't find the appropriate camera module that worked well enough in time it'll come as soon as they can sources from China. The second one which is a conspiracy theory and I love conspiracy theories when they have to do with apple. Is that apple was worried that touch with to close the -- to the iPhone. We'll cannibalize iPhone that customers in the US because iPhone customers are sent disgruntled but they can't take them. I know that we can see if that's true they both sound plausible but I."
" I thought if -- Sorry you're a consumer buying in the marketplace. You can't afford it right now. And we saw the numbers question nothing wells. You -- Natalie you've got features that even the tough guys don't. Went to Steve's got you in the UQ -- good about that product right yeah hence to Steve's point to Q&A David Pogue asks that question about why was their camera in the iPod touch and while we -- keep this game and it never believe. We've never able yeah it's always used I don't know if he's in his direction -- to launch an. It's a ticket so much for statement is important is this notion that since I've only got 140 dollars to spend. I still get something you'd see that the touch guys -- yeah and I get -- satisfaction out of -- How would you use -- you wanted to get this new iPod nano was the video was at the tipping point for you you know I watch some of the video examples and apparently the -- not that great so I don't know. I don't know that it's gonna replace -- war but -- he have a flip I have a flip now."
" What you have people here in the chatroom saying look I'd like to get the video nano I have a flip Mino HD. And that's the size. I would love it if it was nano size and had a nice size of screen but that's the problem here this is. This is the HD and it is a pretty big device I mean and so this is that this is a question and and -- maybe you can -- they went on vacation you just on the trip. Q how many devices do you bring you bring -- I -- our best present. What can we do -- bring there the camera for the nice shots they wanna bring the bring a little mini. Cam -- that they have -- to flip HDL and openness but. You get the point is pretty B device its actually. It's -- it's not a size of a pack -- cigarettes not gonna smoke but it's about that size. And of course the nano is razor thin. Wouldn't it be nice to have a device that captures all of those things percent of -- having did -- all these different gadgets."
" Yeah I'm gonna think there are a lot of people letters and not just in the same way that -- I think we don't buy a -- digital camera now because they pretty good pictures on the top right right why would you buy. What if you spend the money -- it decent shots. I think that. Sounds like -- saying if you're you know wanna take photos of your kid like birthday party might wanna do -- cameras have better memories that I think that's one reason why someone might buy. The Mino HD which is you you know high Def camera for 200 bucks round -- to -- much higher quality you're gonna get out the nano or even out of your your iPhone."
" So was -- supposed to be Cameron the iPod touch. Rumor said yes but -- an apples and does so I guess there wasn't mean we thought we find those -- spokesman. I mean this was the group the big question because if if there was camera on the iPod touch that would have been you know everyone wanted to nano everyone wants across all these devices and then you have this in HD rolling out soon. That would have been the one thing that apple could have said look we've got video everywhere. And now -- is this weird sort of hole in its product lines that not."
" My doesn't work right now because in India does video but not so Bright -- I've doesn't do photo or video. That the iPhone three G does photo but not media it says that -- the -- just -- bridges -- justice that he -- the iPhone three G that's not right right now so."
" And it's still a market but I'd much interest segment across product on Fred I want 64 gigs I've got to go touch but want an iPhone -- segment there -- I have but I I -- it's kind of where I can't get a sixteen. I touching more against sixteen game but I think so but I think -- a look at these you know if you see in an island -- you think it's NT but. But it does. And I think that they're you know the average consumer might -- you know confused by that and not enough -- five night -- apple -- pretty good job of showing off. -- I think consumers are gonna get it gives him only -- apple doesn't -- These things they're -- well yeah they're gonna show this is video only if you haven't had his -- in new iPod nano. Commercial they they showed that at the at the speech as well and Clinton people. Apple is just giving people a reason to buy and you know and right. -- good economic times won't vote exactly because the touch is your the touch is your app. Platform it's your gaming machine it's here it's your netbook I like to claim and the nano now is your music player -- your account that don't -- Andy I haven't seen this in and and in an apple --"
" Before they really -- this little camera so let's take a look at the apple come back and talk about it. You have the right Kevin. --"
" He -- you know that banned -- Cool. We I think the ad is it it's sort of are we wanna what you know we're still playing music we -- music we've got the video now. It's what we're coming after. Those guys have gotten so -- offices -- Apple has put them in the process so Al we. I think if I was the -- he's absolutely -- I wanna carry two devices. -- 640 by 480 is is good enough for most videos or is it different now I mean is it because it. You know the device you're carrying two to Peter's point you're carrying a device like a flip page Steve because you want the higher quality video and -- quarter market. And that's you're going after the camp quarter -- wants a small cam -- That's good for casual videos if you've got the nano if you got your iPhone three G yes but it's not going to capture. That great birthday party the -- that you wanna probably capture it -- yeah I think the problem with the -- with the flip cameras that. They're the easiest there cannibalized by cellphone camera -- My hope is that -- like a high end you know point and shoot camera that's you know auto focus and face detection really can. You better things but what's -- quality. -- This is went in striking this what -- like the Kodak CIA and -- at this Nvidia's fantastic in this software. Yeah first especially for text or video right where you're not shooting movies shooting at a critical moment but you want but -- camera and do short videos over to our Christmas predictions -- on the line is an -- the biggest selling iPod of the season -- with the iPod touch -- And but. Nano which it wasn't before right that the the the touch had -- it sales numbers I'm not mistaken right you touched was a hundred million touching them that is that they did. It -- forgotten their courtrooms but it's -- hundred million -- more longer but they've got twenty million. I don't know that there's -- reason really upgraded you have an iPod touch right. Upgrade to this woman just came out words I have an old and I know there is -- reason to upgrade -- we think Christmas. Aniston and and it was a frightening thing accounts and also if the economy doesn't come back people are going to be looking at -- devices -- that's. Yeah we think it's going to be -- and I think they're both pretty darn well -- it was where people's economy is. When they walk into that -- for the council council but -- it's more raffles and working towards it. There's features that are. Things. Now you saying that based on the fact that you may we may in fact C camera in the iPod touch before Christmas I -- I -- like and we should we should we should explain the problem to -- there were all those rumors and you know of course that there was a problem the chip. There was a problem and it the last minute which sort strikes -- amazing and and you guys speak to this what I can but at the last minute like that when you're about to ship a product. And the chip is problematic we've what was all the cases that had a camera. Hole in these cases that it could have been an iPod touch with a camera. -- you report that quickly. And then to -- new iPod touch is -- don't have a camera that quickly future presumed lost them the last minute and wasn't done intentionally and you know we heard a lot of respect tablets. -- it's someone else so does that and as a last minute for consumer electronics products. To beat. Them on it right the rumors -- Brooke you know couple weeks before hand but who knows what people were seeing what things. Hey if you know people to fake images out there -- you understand that's right here. So I was reading -- chat room wants to know is -- video recording done in landscape mode yet I think it is you have to flip it to the side which is where because it's at the bottom two. So if you move your hand around you kinda have to get used to stick your finger by Ralph on for a few days and the question why is that site abort mode -- you. Yet there's only fifteen and fifty special fifteen special effects -- pretty cool. And surprise that you know there there again -- a differentiation in the market have a sort of fun kids -- like effects of the different colors for -- you don't have that the iPhone three -- yes you don't have. Different video -- that one's you know. What you know when video capture these devices are options -- recent -- ultimately spent a lot of time talking about the call -- hours ago off. Why they'd be gone with these -- notice there's don't know well one. -- yeah."
" presume yeah I think you may see some frustration from consumers who. Pick one of those special modes and then realize don't realize that -- the original. Without the movies well you can switch that you bring up this you have to be in the viewfinder if it were that the special boat when you have put reports that you can't do by accident it's very important. Let's put up -- the picture Kevin you had a picture up there earlier of the apps store. Yeah. The settings for the app store. -- you applications folder within your iPods you're -- Your iPod or -- or iPhone settings within iTunes so the other being announced was iTunes nine. My biggest might -- as -- the bit and she's the biggest excitement for the day was this. The fact that I've spent an hour moving apps around the screen. But it seemed to me a lot of stuff that we saw on iTunes nine. We saw some these updates reminded me a little bit of like what snow leopard. Did for leopard which is a lot of these upgrades that perhaps should have been a little while ago that we haven't seen but now making -- big to do about it with an apple that my wrong talk."
" Yeah. Well I mean I think there's always raise expectations any time there's an apple and I think people have amnesia about this forget that there have been lots of apple events where there have been that major products announced or major is huge huge I mean no Apple's only -- entries and you product category -- device. And people so I mean that the idea that that and iTunes ninth and ninth version lead by definition it's you know we're talking."
" Yeah we're gonna -- from iTunes one's nine -- sort of thing with snow leopard the leopard came out I took up an old machine running ten point one. Wow what a huge difference ten point one to ten point six. And you go back to iTunes want. It's dramatically different these incremental changes but. -- about it was you have to -- iTunes yeah and part of it comes as they used -- it's more sophisticated young people only have one screen about him now that care. When your users like us in the either nine screens apps and you try to organize them -- in the same thing with -- breaking ability that I can. Sick playlist and -- specific artists or specific episodes podcasts race you're paying for doing now really easy."
" So it's Arab guests are increasing the -- doesn't work the iPod touch is that true."
" Via an update or get out of it up to its iTunes like personnel and -- to update you may also have to take -- on three point one which is a five dollar charge. For an iPod touch -- now. If you haven't got the real if you haven't got 30 it's okay. 331 it's free it's 21 to three it costs -- you upgraded yet -- iTunes I don't have an iPod touch for an iPhone. -- I haven't upgraded. We a lot of people -- say they haven't updated yet a little worried about some things one of these it may be worried about. Upgrading to iTunes nine is if you have a home pretty. Once again apple should officer dean yeah I mean losing his back back and forth tit for tat I yet you know -- out all of them -- until someone gets fired. Yeah I think -- it's free marketing for -- Yes every time I to apple breaks it. The gadget blogs and Rick -- and every time apple doesn't harm. Subtly positions apple as acting like Microsoft was in the nineties. They find a way to make apple look out even if apple probably is. -- I talk at the -- they actually like this new. At moving screen because it allows them allows them to show off the apps that they have on there on their screen and so it gives. Developers -- or perhaps even more yeah so they get I think this will be very popular."
" I talk about that from a developer standpoint you deal with a lot of startups that senator networks and the one of the things it was highlighted at the keynote. Keynote. Yeah sure -- Presentation -- is talking about the way in which apps are now the genius feature in the apps which will give. App because you know right now how many apps are on their forty thousands. Selling 5000 I -- forget. Kate it is hard to -- of trying to find good quality -- are on the featured page so. From a developer standpoint -- to be great things we will have recommended things that are in the same thing that might elevate these. Groups from the bottom right now yeah I actually ran a story the other day from somebody who actually got -- feature. And how much how much it drove the sales straight -- you know to whom. So being featured is obviously -- great thing and being able to find things that your interest in and is also obviously very important. And it becomes harder art -- 75 maps yeah and when you're working with some of these developers who are startups who are looking to. In any feature to attack US was developing strictly for the iPhone they of course get featured at the apple events like this. When you're working with apple when -- work with developers start -- finding that they're doing. Developing for the iPhone or android are you looking at different sort of sort of wanted to move into these different spaces. I think obviously iPhone is most popular. Because developers also use the iPhone. Right so it makes sense of just build what they know. For me I have a sorrow and my customers -- business customers they're asking every -- for Blackberry application. I don't get as many requests for a while he's such a comment on that would it would it what is. Why why why why don't we have -- and why is -- android handle these problems with trying to get a place you know. Just looking for and a simple way to update and -- push how to podcasts in the android android space. It's difficult to find."
" What if I understand -- android. Android came to market very early in its proper very early in its process almost as as a as -- developers beta. Thank you can't even to -- you can even think of the T-Mobile G1 as a consumer device. That was the android -- one proving ground -- What you're seeing now this quarter as you CV HTC hero hit as you see the Motorola click or whatever they wanna call it a hit. That's almost the first round of truly finished android devices and -- I think yesterday we were hearing that CEO of I NQ. Their their at feature phone maker from Europe saying you know what that android market yet it needs help we're gonna do that. Next year if Google doesn't fix -- we're going to fix it so I think. A lot -- and and I definitely jumped on me. Diane -- bandwagon about six months ago."
" But I'm reconsidering saying that we were saying that too -- because and we're just came out very early next year it's gonna look a lot more --"
" Some people -- asking chatter about iTunes -- were talking you guys -- jump in about this other problems with upgrading why would not want to upgrade iTunes nine. Have there been any problems without I've heard some sort of scattered reports of trouble -- across different devices but I don't know what you guys heard anything and that many. Widespread reports out there -- here."
" Someone has always been -- in -- persecution vocal but it's great upgrade and if you are -- you go -- control and if -- more than one computer running iTunes. And you want to consolidate -- is battle wounds we're very as I discovered stuff like chains -- know was on one computer. There was one so it's like anything else were missing from the apple event that we want to touch on. Anything else that this track record with anyone."
" I -- to mention that. He is is is Paul is is -- suicidal I mean it. The apple event. So completely squash the -- launch it was comical because. As the apple event was going on I was still writing com -- hands on coverage. And I got to watch. The things I was publishing about the -- get so."
" And read -- and just eradicated. By the apple coverage it was it was hilarious and sad because the -- is not a bad thought it deserved a little bit."
" Eyeballs -- I think he was not. -- palm is moving and -- Apple's move it. There certainly Jon Rubinstein Steve Jobs not consulting each other women want products but. Frankly -- upon that tree was a -- you'll probably it was worth about twelve hour news cycle. It wouldn't have gotten more than twelve hour news cycle and that now on -- reason -- news -- Apple's opponents. As opposed to. It really -- it was twelve news. Twelve -- cycle product and having lost momentum to something else. Pockets at the site well -- talking about it and we knew we couldn't miss the bigger apple news it's not an accident pretty good stroke right it's an exciting and fun. Tuesday it has not worked --"
" I think it'd be that a successor to the centro and do nothing. On sold a lot of centrists. But it's not really great. It was basically the last line is. On the list of places a lower and hands -- it just like that exceed and yet. --"
" Well two balls aren't that while this is -- central -- the -- Let's not. Don't damage which he and please call is not a cent I thought essential board and everything else -- well but but I mean if the screen is smaller lower resolution. He has last memory. So much -- notes and memories and seen snow across both processors or processor so mean big big downgraded expects a little bit. I don't know that this century yet but now I'm not say it's as -- but it is like the center to the -- yes. --"
" Let's reintroduce everyone here -- in some other news wanna talk about the Motorola click for whatever you wanna call it. He's just e-book reader to get your questions and -- get some great questions and hopefully we've been addressing -- with -- the of the problems of people talking about. It had some problems syncing with podcasts. With iTunes. I've heard that to my problem -- has been with. Act actually -- iTunes -- reactions occurring before that I don't know it was a snow leopard problem. Hopefully -- this new update was snow leopard by the way if you have upgraded the snow leopard we haven't got the new -- is what ten point five point six. Until it was six point one. -- six point one is out late last night yesterday so you need to upgrade apple says it fixes some bugs and also I don't know what else it does. -- never know right. That's -- your questions now you want. I like to reintroduce everyone here to analyze that is Peter Rojas from TV GT that is Michael Garber from interpret that as -- seated next to him from PC Mac announcer from center networks dot com. Thank you all for joining us. Let's talk a little bit about the Motorola click because. I thought. I was really excited about this in watching -- just speech yesterday and mobilize. You know it's I was less excited obviously about the hardware. And I was more excited about what that was it moto blur -- would -- pronouncing his."
" As as you said none of and the good -- I have not love with these product names by the way. Not only adding click how do you spell that they picked they think that -- it is possible snow allies so Motorola. And similarly I think a lot of people are gonna have trouble pronouncing it terminal are -- law. But aside from the names it's really interesting what -- is doing here raising the bar. For integrating. All of these various places we -- formations in ways we talked to people on the web and and through the Internet. --"
" moto -- blur which was the application which sort of aggregates all of these different social networking features FaceBook Twitter MySpace. Your address book and sort of pulls all of that information together with one logging -- able to manipulate and do different things with in that same applications. L I ask you from a developer standpoint that's got to be pretty exciting for developers you're talking to these guys and listening to where there's their heads Iraq. We have a social networking trying to monetize social networking for UG GPS and location based software what sort what sorts of things you hearing from startups I think."
" Developers want to -- where there's a market and where they feel like they're part of their element which is why the iPhone is so popular. Right so I don't I don't know enough about this really comment except that you know if you look at even the -- market of the android market you don't see as many developers there. And you know it's going to be hard but the truth is is that. I think if these companies if these companies go after developers they may actually start to do that are. Because if you get the developers excited about it you get more apps built for it and you'll get more interest in the right 75000 apps. The apple store. How many are there for --"
" Well that's 7000 for android -- OS. Is an exciting product -- is so we're gonna run out by for the software. I'm not sure that's really -- to get people that excited. It's -- partners -- and indifference in this. And if we're in the -- for everyone else that Apple's rights act so aggressively. Did you guys. Now. This is certainly apple is priced -- the larger subsidies it more well. Whatever where whoever votes -- split that is what has not that but it is. You know Motorola was -- has been hemorrhaging cash for a long time they they made -- big -- on the RAZR. And -- squeeze every last drop because -- Form and that -- them. -- right yeah so they basically that the farm now on android and Dimitris whole bunch of an android devices. I'm not sure that this is really going to be enough for them I think that if you look at each TC HTC building a lot of stuff on top android that looks better -- is somewhat more interesting that."
" You -- hero and the thing is right what HT CD with android was it totally. Finished it -- right Andrew releases unfinished product. -- you -- really the first commercial and we're partners finished but they also. Basic -- revamped everything the only reports that they -- skin did. -- lot more than just one now that's the problem with -- does want to that it really nice stuff but this sort of one application. Visitors get out of that -- your back into stock android. Right and -- android is not that -- or complete the question is how deep does this go is this plunked into the phone book the calendar. The mail program does it is because it does this connectivity at ten rolls into all of the basic applications that we're talking something interesting as opposed to just. A social networking -- Right and it's not clear they didn't seem to show that level of integration and that's why I was concerned I'm pretty sure it's."
" In the address book and it's it's across your contacts and it's pulling from its aggregating information that you -- you have on your phone through. Your I'm pretty sure it through your different stuff that you've already float program into your address book. Pulling from your from your FaceBook account pulling from -- space and looking at those different things you're not having to jump through different -- to get to that information."
" I mean Paul tried in the superior it was synergy -- you pulling it. Knowing your social network. There everything was in a separate out everything was tightly integrated and ACC's doing that the end entry is well on here or where I can get this integrated view FaceBook in my contacts out though but it's not separate out. Think you like him. I -- yeah."
" You like -- and balanced perspective on this -- from the developer standpoint but. This is a unique moment because maybe -- moving towards having totaled one place we go to get this information or we gonna keep seeing these disparate forms do you think. Terms in terms of what social networking enviable pusher information quickly upload photos --"
" I think I didn't think people are gonna you know it. Just like you wanna be able taxes all -- different services on. On your computer and particulate tweet deck it's a good example an application that they're adding MySpace and he you know FaceBook supports an application that -- was about Twitter. I think that it makes sense that phone to answer to them instructions blogging -- lots of different lots of different social networking and micro blogging application. Supporting multiple different services to people tend to have presence on different. Services I again -- not sure that that's enough for someone gone wanna -- file. -- it -- doesn't seem more like a driving."
" Another room wants that in other words I think synergies created -- these were. People want that wanted most they want there's universe is in integrated views but a lot of folks saying you know all my FaceBook separate. -- from -- Twitter at Twitter separate from my address book. Because I communicate -- to -- these people differently and I don't want everything coming and one Q now analog so we'll just use one of these wildlife -- FaceBook. Right I mean it's great to have FaceBook and MySpace Twitter support but you FaceBook. You know what -- just -- We think about all them."
" content aggregators on the web a popular so it makes sense that social networking app creators may work to but the Peter's point I think. I don't -- all the networks and other issue is if you do decide to use tweet -- of one of the -- services and these things are no longer needed. So I would rather have I would rather see them -- to developers and let developers build the ecosystem like the iPhone. But I would GD GT into the social media experience with in you know within your web site. Could you see a possibility for -- in space like this a lot of phone. Yeah I mean how I mean if you to sort of you know you know blue skies solution hearing something anyway how would you."
" Yeah I mean not to talk much but what we're working on don't please except that. -- we are you know looking at how we've got angry and you know stuff but -- doing -- that we think about. -- experience not just -- outside as well I think that everybody building -- kind of what awful web service that's really think about. How do you offer that not just on your site really across the -- now cross -- mobile device well I think that is one reason why. -- You know live -- last week people really talking but this. FaceBook application for the iPhone it was right and and you know people or -- looking at things like. And we haven't talked -- what's right which is the sense. Bringing that social network that you might have built them -- now -- in the context that you have there and be able to agree that -- here."
" And now we learned this week Google Voice integrated into Gmail -- was the messages right within Gmail and honestly can you push right there so you gotta blow account. It seems and if you anybody's played with the the Google Voice web application for the iPhone there. You know all of us think about. -- all the stink about it not being made available to -- about the web version of the app that is not been publicized and -- Google hasn't pushed -- an icon so you out of your home screen with the for -- The site in an icon for it works flawlessly. It works."
" Well -- native apps work. You know -- I got TT mobile for apple pulled it right com and you can do more it's a lot easier to do things like this mess. It's bodies you have to dial right on there I can -- directed to phone numbers there from -- rich app is always -- Better experience -- the best web application Google knows there."
" People just telling me you're experiencing a GD GT for the first time -- over just a few seconds since you mentioned GGT we've been learned things about my new routers my -- informative site. Austin if you get access -- for instance -- that's the whole point because you guys have done a great. You know if you want the best way to search for if you want the best way to search for gadgets you guys have done a bang."
" Job yeah and one of things that. Blossom up like it but. Is that in one we distant reaches new version of the home victory neatly like powerful personalized -- where you can see what your friends are talking -- site. And but I love it's like -- at the -- when you know what -- for example like comment about something I can see that I can jump in our conversation right there."
" Yeah and I imagine -- you guys are looking to -- the mobile space and I talked about before off camera but looking at the mobile space. You've got you've got pretty intensive web site so you may you know there may be a move towards making a lighter version perhaps -- for the mobile space."
" Yeah I think you we have I think we have to at some point one of these that I wanted to use someone -- but anyway --"
" Well speaking of lighter versions of popular social networking -- wanna talk about peaceful way of course and I got really excited about this film over that saw -- roll out this week to US consumers and of course the push from FaceBook is that they wanna get it into. Foreign countries that don't have the bandwidth you don't have this -- the Internet access that we do. And what -- we still ranked 28 was having was funny too heavy. Well I'm glad we got it first but yes in fact it was ruled out is really fantastic be checking things -- dot FaceBook dot com. I treated yesterday and tons of responses from people who hadn't heard anything about it and -- they -- more than -- like FaceBook because. I don't know about you but one of the sites it takes forever for me to load is FaceBook is bloated it's heavy and there's all these things I don't need it and I don't need quizzes and all you know."
" It's not just that it takes forever for you to look. As you said all of do not want kinds of information and I I FaceBook light I. It used FaceBook regularly -- but -- I can't handle that continual screen that continual suite of third party application. Act. -- from the people who want all of their -- to answer that question quizzes and become empires armies it FaceBook light might bring it back to FaceBook -- Because it -- I have to agree it's history it's a spelling but this huge problem for FaceBook. If everyone's more excited about polite version. Yeah we're gonna go back to using you know he's about. Obviously right now. So I think FaceBook hasn't been a big issue here there may be a victim of success flipping -- are obsessed. Twitter yet."
" I didn't think definitely pensions. -- that mentions and in and there are I mean you really. Fixated on this company I think that they I mean I think that'd mean a lot of that innovators the -- The Obama right which is like they got to see themselves is now its licensing that like most people would see FaceBook -- it's kind of scrappy young startup. But they -- themselves actually is a very mature company which is. You know potentially going to be disrupted by somebody else they see that opera house Twitter it's kind of funny how they've."
" Themselves it's remarkable because they see themselves of -- wired had a great article about FaceBook and Google. A few months ago and they see themselves as the alternative to Google and and so its its odds in the -- that they are so threatened by Twitter in a way at India mentions a lighter version of the site. I don't know what did you use the heavier version of FaceBook actual. I think the migrants from FaceBook to me looks just like what -- right I and so it it isn't his sweater I don't know they're scared by Twitter I just think that what they wanna introduce features that. They're users want. And new users want what are so they're introducing -- with -- candidate. That's the big issue right it is an absolutely huge is we go back to the development point of view theory that the hybrids and it's killing ecosystem for developers."
" Yeah if there's a gaps are dead anyway let me take out well there certainly are getting up now is it more super I think he's gonna help Twitter Twitter yes acute -- hasn't -- as part of the best news FaceBook light. And he. At mentions. But the best news for Twitter and those guys that they've heard all politics."
" Standardization of it like if I mention a you know at Peter Ross and beyond against the games played -- I don't have to just transpose that that's getting dumped -- into the that's getting dumped -- FaceBook anyway because I have my Twitter traveling with Facebook's overseeing all of this information stream coming through FaceBook anyways seeing themselves well. Get beat and we might as well join."
" There's actually -- group now look at non profit just kind to to standardize all the stuff like the between the -- for between trying to sort of come up with -- standards standards. Sort of language that speak as -- across. I would like that and -- makes sense that and then he would have that built into the applications that RT meant something whether you're on Twitter whether FaceBook whether whatever you know you know."
" Yeah. -- gates has yet he just jumped over and checked it out. And -- taking a look at it is well FaceBook light I think a lot of -- a lot of stuff in here. Is it's it's capable well -- FaceBook is even cable points that is -- from Twitter. They see that this slipping. They certainly like the cleaner look at that I just like that was simple I want to photos -- status updates and it loads -- a little balloons and its Q. I want to kitten on management's. Let's take a look at windows seven. Windows seven to finally rolling camera yesterday -- you don't -- little girl take a look at the windows seven commercial with we finally got a chance to see we'll talk about this."
" Yeah it's a cool --"
" In the old days. Yeah. --"
" That is coming and I have to admit when my all time favorite songs is Europe's final countdown and every time. Really that was might as well my little -- We'll Sanyo and that's the song I choose every morning we have our -- played four before FOX & Friends. On the reminds me -- Arrested Development so much so but so what do you think of finally receive marketing push for when the seven."
" Yeah high right now. I I think. The funny thing is is witness actually it. Especially this. I'm not that Microsoft understands the market. Did you date because we have multiple price structure it's -- it's true position if he does that commercial like me for real growth campus and."
" Yeah I think finally cardinals great yes we we don't learn. What I mean one of the big problems right they have this problem now Michael which is overcome the perception of Vista. And we saw that with the Mojave experiment we saw all that BS a few years ago with the Mojave experiment Nate there's this perception in the marketplace now that -- is terribly even -- casual people who don't know what the heck they're talking about whether or not they should have upgraded to Vista why they don't like this they don't know why they don't like it. They don't they don't have it because they've heard something about how terrible what is does this counteract that perception --"
" Do you remember the Windows Vista commercials."
" Don't know I don't know what and that's and that's the -- don't want us. -- at least. Suiting up getting in the game with when -- this it -- that they were. Set in marketing from Microsoft I think it's good marketing. I'm not sure that. Q cells operating systems -- worked well in the photo gallery -- good trying to throw the feature that's easy you know report you'll use. They're really care what were your role you know into the the operating system active driver for this was the most effective ethnic and do -- It's good to see that there will be suiting up and getting in the game. And willing to take on -- to some degree -- for the last five years -- The microphones. You guys I promised people we talk about windows seven lot of people want to know what our thoughts are on Sasha. Marketing versus what you what you see with it you certainly -- with the Clinton."
" Think I mean I think I think -- operating system and the percent that you're trying to counter -- of any gigantic and Clinton -- between. If if the perception out there of the existing its operating system -- of the company of this. Elderly -- the whale and it makes sitting sweating lumber on to the war. Q and sprightly little -- is definitely be the opposite perception that you need to put out there."
" And I have to say I agree with what Peterson -- this that's -- pretty darn good product a lot of us have been using it around his neck offices for months now."
" And it's smaller it's more stable."
" It's it's."
" Relatively date there aren't a lot of sharp differences in the U lie and just as you -- what's so bad it was mostly stability compatibility problems. So. This is we've been saying for months this is what is it that it can't let it Microsoft probably simple -- with the thicket of race -- perhaps I'm here to just release."
" that this would take a break here and I get your Mike is slipping in your chest there. Face it properly obsolete if you muffled."
" It. It is. And -- wrong. This approach in wasted. Dollars later. 11299. Dollars you really all -- and that is -- was they were offering this thing. We getting limited number of copies over the summer we're gonna sell it. 49 dollars you know limited number at a cheap software bit yeah. The -- attitude bits of it. My copy this with a huge mistake -- real jobs or -- way on in -- I think with these. People were human experience. And we've we've been hearing ended. Up."
" They also made one really weird decision which maybe somebody explain to me which is. The biggest segment. That the hottest segment and -- PC market right now is netbooks and many of those netbooks are being sold with windows XP. And many of those netbooks run windows seven really well and they offer great windows seven experience even with one gig of ram. And there is no upgrade path from windows XP to windows sentence him to -- all of those netbook owners what's up with back."
" That's that's the biggest issue from a consumer perspective is if you talk apple -- the best way to upgrade is upgrade over existing operating system. And Microsoft says the best we do it not to do that -- really really hard -- you have to back up all your applications. Backup your data moving to another computer -- to another hard -- start from scratch. Just the hassle loan of going to windows seven is gonna keep a lot of people just -- they -- between the price point and hassle. Now could be worth it."
" When we talk about the commercials. -- personally you wanna see 83% improvement nobody really cares about that right I think -- is cute and people talk about our. Right when she came out with her commercial with them with a photo lab people talked about it I think that's important I think Microsoft needs to get people excited and it's very hard. It's just it's nobody's excited about it and I don't have to -- viewpoint is it of people would be -- about statistics. No opening and one that we want to have a."
" We -- have a real branding features wanna see what thinking do you want -- generally your -- wanna see some of the part of the problem is right at it generated excitement once people discover that. -- They -- can upgrade from XP directly I have to start from scratch. Indeed this is gonna cost between 99199. For me yet. A lot of folks are gonna be turned back in -- to see it is the first time we've got apple Microsoft going head to head with -- always -- within weeks of each other right. And Big Apple pulled pretty good head -- getting extra months -- pick up about school season while all September. Most of October -- Microsoft really can't say all that much because we've got nothing self talk but I thought that extra month I don't know what -- we've been hearing about this. I mean what since January. Don't we've only Apple's master it but I just -- a final word on windows seven license that would be funny -- so. Came in about. An air -- this."
" Rehearsal you know agree on you -- see that that's not what this evolved from India. But -- take a good thing in the business people outside -- firing squad. Yeah somebody -- meeting that's definitely a good thing but what about madness."
" My community workout video I work southwest -- so --"
" commercials like that may turn sort of drama into into reality and make fun of it. -- And I know we've been talking about the tablet of course and I was hoping that there would be some one device that I could have that would be my. Got really excited about the Sony a daily edition I'm very excited about the public library thing -- now hearing rumors of course in the photos. -- basis e-book reader speaking folks -- is -- I can have anything until. C yes -- you see any until CES to take a look at some of the photos of the alleged basis e-book reader and we'll have our panel of experts -- wait and see what they think about it. -- here it is. So and this could be from what we're hearing. A move to a really cheap you know try to undercut Sony trying to undercut Amazon with a dual teen. E-book experience. Do we know time."
" Do we know anything about that. -- And we have that tablet to have that touch tablet which was you know really happening pretty crappy so is it yeah. Or is -- LCD you know that's a good question I think. Well the -- we saw at -- yes we did we see the same. -- iteration of -- CES in my wrong about that and it was it was LCD. You know. Yeah or else we don't know yet what this panel would be over here it wouldn't be too pains I guess presumably you could do that if you wanted."
" It's LCD sensors that are out. Right and they can do it if she thinks it's Simpson does -- more -- experience the question is negative -- that -- Sony has been unable to get the contents reeling. There -- because of who public domain stuff to do in the public. We felt confident e-book reader is just another work in any book readers -- device ecosystem it's it's that."
" And point for -- content delivery system."
" And just says apple kind of proved that may be also an MP3 players the end point for content delivery system."
" And is this isn't the first company I think when I think. Acquiring a massive library of content and making partnerships to get stuff on to the device they tend to make. Inexpensive hardware. That works with commodities software so what's the software."
" Yeah that's a good question from a developer standpoint now I find it curious that is there when you're talking to started looking at this is seems to me we've been talking 2009 being perhaps that your e-book reader. What are you hearing in the start of spades in the -- for products like this. I don't care really that much about building on -- books. -- in any book readers but I think that as long as they can support applications. It it makes sense I think. -- you know -- is coming out with this being able to tie into an application system that's already out there. Would be huge I don't know if that's possible but -- they could build off of say the android or even the -- and then obviously. Applications -- work here that the office. -- you final questions here in the in the chat room and everything else and I want sort of think. Thank everyone for weighing in on the that you put this computer down I don't know people who can -- you -- on boxing. This is from this is from basis this is the new -- you know. It's available now this is the thirteen -- this is the UL thirty this is the thirteen -- to 790s now."
" I -- and a sign -- and it says is just won it 3000 and it sees it as a war that's exactly it may. Be worth it. Yeah it what all of them yeah. -- So some of the specs on this we know they're they're pushing it twelve a twelve hour battery life on it. Might be part of the problem -- Well -- already told. Us. But it would we have a -- it we have. Some of the -- The putting somebody's making. Me as well. Yeah. And what's great blowing out windows seven then you're viewed as an upgrade to windows what is that -- that -- Yeah -- citizens -- our listeners hear this is that aluminum look."
" That -- we're seeing I think they want to stick to reward and in fact. It's. It's because that -- this yet. Yeah this is the this is the thirteen -- 799 they're boasting twelve hours of battery life it's got Nvidia. It's going to be inside what else they have here Intel core due to core two duo processor eight gigabytes of memory. How many cells -- that battery. -- Yeah I thought I was battery life -- it's pretty authentic photos -- two -- I would say take that it's twelve hours of battery life. Don't actually do anything to -- has been turned on now there -- what they're talking about this extra battery life to talking about. -- graphics graphic -- boost. Was just saying. It's more efficient."
" What they mean is dropping down integrated what I bet they mean is dropping down integrated graphics as opposed to. Using whatever it be onboard graphics chip is I'm making this up because I don't know the specs of this which means that technically sound. A lot of lower and is a lot of lower and laptops can drop to integrate graphics to save battery life."
" But has an ice cold compress on -- that's that's that's great causing cold drinks now it's you know it's got that brushed aluminum which we're seeing it's less than an inch thick. And there's a comes -- at twelve inch display that you will twenties. Which is twelve inch display that's the UL 43 inch display and you'll fifty. Fifteen inch display. Definitely has an apple esque design -- Nvidia geforce graphics cards in -- so. You know -- is though. I mean just from just from the company's perspective and we heard from a deficiency -- the president this -- that they they -- on apple. I don't know how they plan to do that -- they want to take on apple with cool products. They want undercut apple with cool products that are much cheaper and -- certainly doing that with much cheaper products and I am a candidacy shell BP CC shell. -- little netbook but. -- guessing that the statements what I think that."
" I mean we've seen it before -- companies saying it. Created so that it. -- Focus on that more -- under -- sexy music was the PC which was kind of quietly introducing new product which. Completion of the category and actually faulted them the top of -- Now they're like in the top three I think PC makers in the -- you're Syria."
" Correct. Apple -- company's -- say we're going to take on apple and we reduced by undercutting them that's their dream scenario no one is ever gonna beat apple by trying to take -- undercut. -- do it is by not trying to be apple. Aces -- tried cases that apple."
" Yeah and I mean does this this to me looks at the -- apple so much like you know this airs -- undercuts like -- SI usually excellent series for us. Yeah that's slightly cheaper than -- excellence like what 900. This coming in at 799 so -- the timing of that market too much. Anyway yeah they're gonna after down after eight.
