Motor City Comeback?

" you can live better I'll be home executive east of Detroit -- yeah you're happy aren't. Very compelling story. You decide you're gonna multiple it's -- Detroit right. That Syria and the cool part -- Like. Okay in the world -- one -- lose in Detroit it was and it would make TV try to let it go well what's gonna."

" Well there's nothing been some production companies and large -- is that -- coming to town. Michigan's got a great work force base we do need to do some train -- to get that things really propelled. But I think the thing that's really compelling about the Michigan at this point is. Is the opportunity for us to create a new industry -- what we're doing there."

" Thereafter -- so I think what is that for the Detroit. It getting its clock hopefully with what's going out GM and Chrysler right now and important -- that ended down economy housing market. Is -- hope for Detroit you it would what's the plan."

" Yeah there's there's definitely hope for -- and the area. I mean look -- you've got you've got to a city and you've got a state in a depression I don't care what anyone says about recession is absolutely depression there. And you've but the very positive part of it is you've got a little great amount of people who are. Eager to not only get to work but -- helped to. Create something new and create something that that can be compelling. You know you've got an amazing work force that was developed through the auto industry and and the related industries. And this is an immense amount of skilled in and out on -- but really a lot of skilled labor. There are out of work there and vast amounts of field but those fields can be translated. Into the entertainment industry the an -- production part of the industry. A very easily. Now you've got a governor who who passed. This incentive plan which you know if we had a way we would we would have no taxes on any businesses but they made a bold move. Up for this particular industry. And it is great way to jumpstart. Things that we need to do 11 thing that we are doing which is cycle for --"

" I want to ask is up you make of great point we talk about. We'll talk -- room spends a lot of time talking about unions you talk about taxes we talk about politics. A couple of points -- made. Where are the unions. Clearly it's just that it's a state where union shop it's -- union shop state. Number one and number two. You know we talk about Obama we talked about. What what is the incentive to do business the United States and -- on it. When you drop taxes you draw businesses to your state your country right so you in Detroit are looking up for tax breaks for the film industry so you can attract people and businesses into the state."

" Well and that's what that's what they did and and it is absolutely powerful tool. And -- and -- look at and I think it's it's smart fiscal economics and you. You invigorate the opportunity for business to bloom and business had to be birth. And then you have workers and then you create an economy well. I'd look as a city for legacy and all the businesses -- the -- it was done for this particular entertainment industry. And it really gives the opportunity for this to two start and to really start -- in a big way. And admit -- look at question is -- to question is if if the outsider it it is certain. State. Tax breaks. That's correct what it is is the state is offering. An incentive. Comparable to what. Louisiana has New York had. A couple of the other states in -- it originally started in Canada. And what it is is most of those states are offering an actual incentive based on the tax. This is literally rebates so for every dollar you spend. You're getting X amount of sense back on the dollar -- is my bad commission."

" Michigan's one of those states are looking for. You know that the that help to bridge their gap and a budget deficit Villanova -- from the federal government help -- I mean it sounds like we -- taxpayer. Are kind of subsidizing the film industry and in Detroit now."

" Well I think what it is is it's the the tax ultimately it's the tax payers. Who are going to buy themselves. Helped to create a new industry for themselves. Look at you've got a state that is in dire straits. And they can't rely and the federal government they can't -- and anyone but they can come together. And try to to make this work for themselves. And this is pretty much what's happened here an amazing thing that's that I've seen is -- I'm working specifically with the city called Allen park which is small or break out of the side of Detroit. And I've never met more business. Minded and business savvy people in government. And they are absolutely kicking some major -- here to make things happen for themselves and for there constituents. Most conservative."

" I'm diligent fairly quickly guards watching address one day before it as did the unions -- what -- argue unionized."

" We are definitely unions and I and this is another crazy Casey of all the unions actually working together. To help to make this happen."

The unions -- providing me the kind of workforce that we need immediately. And the entertainment industry the movie production is -- union industry. So it's it it would be bucking the norm and -- really not looking about the normal looking to create something that that is complimentary to an --"

" straight you're worried about a backlash. Because you weren't union look absolutely I obviously I -- a lot of Hollywood. Lot of the filming -- entertainment industries is is the liberal. Liberal side of the aisle looking that it be in support of the -- so they use you. Concerned about someone choosing not -- you because you're not union."

" On and on not a dime I I do my friend my base my the union. The union workers -- labor that is out of work these are all the union base and I actually want to be union. -- although I'm not a liberal I'm very very conservative but. The did that again it's the entertainment industry the movie industry itself specifically their -- out C which is part of AFL CIO. That's just a historical they are in place."
