" So do you want to know how to get rich who doesn't our next -- set out on a journey to find the richest self made millionaires. In different towns all across the country and he's now here to reveal their secrets Randy Jones the author of richest man in town. Joins me with three of the men from his book one of them. Is Tom Golisano the founder paychecks who's back with -- also Jorge -- chairman related group of Florida. And -- in coverage is with Sarah's capital partners good morning to all of you can. Good morning I've read it and started hearing -- this fascinating idea a couple of years ago yes let me seek out the richest people in particular talents. But -- already be self made individuals."
" They did in what I wanted to do was I wanted to paint the most geographic and truly represented of portrait of success and wealth in America. I think too often in the media we view wealth through the lenses of Wall Street -- Hollywood. And we forget this vast country in between where great success is being created and great wealth is the wonderful by product out that's it's an interesting thing is is that the chief."
" This person in this book is worth a hundred million dollars. Ten times what most of us need to -- no -- didn't and there are four women also in the book but it points out that we haven't come. Totally to the excel haven't cracked that glass ceiling just yet -- let's. Let me -- Jorge Perez because you are known down in Florida I guess is that Donald Trump the Florida is that true."
" Yes that had been called that I hold yeah I hope by. I live up to that and he -- right."
" Oh is -- George I'm sorry -- so it ten you are forced to flee Cuba. Tell me your story about how you made yourself into a gazillion."
" Well actually I never thought of money I mean one of the things that -- that -- if you search money you might never I'll find it you know why. I was an urban planner Finnish graduate school trying to be do -- enough. And became involved -- subsidized housing for the federal government. Com and SI did these federal programs. I started making money and it was the lawful -- house again and providing housing. This started an old -- not actually searching now for the money and we became the largest affordable housing developers. In the country mom. And -- and that led to you know office buildings and condominiums and not commercial real estate right."
" Well let me get -- and here because I'm interested to hear from Greenville, South Carolina one of the things Randy was telling in the commercial break -- was that. When he found to be amongst all of you gentlemen is that you don't -- goals. How do you explain that."
" Well quick one of things first off let's approval is -- here and -- on this -- I'm excited about it but. Certain goals sometimes sounds like -- A little basic operation that everybody. Just out and does what -- the truth is you you just work. Seriously I think George said in an end in this book which was a great book that -- he spends maybe eighteen hour days and but that's one of the big secret -- there."
" All right also want to go back to Tom because we were talking about you and your business in New York time in moving down to Florida. To save yourself in taxes obviously you think that's a smart financial move that's probably in the book. But also to -- your own boss was that something that was important to you along the way."
" It was very important before I started paychecks -- worked for payroll processing firm. That targeted large businesses and I just wasn't happy -- your level of aggressiveness their execution so -- And I just thought there were better way to do things -- new market of a small employers. So I left this company to start -- they have 3000 dollars of this idea and one employee. And -- course over time that blossomed out. Based on your question about goals and found it very interesting I never had real goals and I had plateaus. Another is my first plateau -- that make a living my second plant that was the start expanding I feared plateau was to go public my fourth plateau. Was to continue to execute and -- I never really thought of in terms of goals it's plateau."
" And Randy I find that's so fascinating because you found that to be a common thread. Amongst all of these rich people and -- there have been thousands of books written about setting goals so where have we gone wrong on this well I don't know that it's."
" We've gone wrong -- just simply that these great success stories these great wealth creators. Are excellent -- executing and they are what I call action addicts so every day -- trying to do. Better than the -- before that in itself could be a goal but in terms of being these sort of strategic planners. They're more plot errors than they are planners in fact just -- among them. Richest -- in Philadelphia said to me the minute you push print. On a business plan it is obsolete what these gentlemen are so good at doing is reading the market reading their business is every day and doing the things that matter most."
" That day but it's a fascinating book Randy Jones the author of richest man in town time George blatant thank you for sharing time with us today."
" Thank you --"
