Paying It Forward

" earlier this year a pastor at a church in Texas told his congregation to take money out of the collection plates if they needed it and that day gets what happened. They had the largest offering ever."

" This reversed collection plate practice continued in the congregation has now -- some people pay their bills so far they have given away. About a half a million dollars this your idea pastor told -- Slough who joins us from Dallas who what do you pastor. Good morning I don't know and we're doing okay we know lot of people -- but had to come up with this idea."

" Well the idea of asking people to take money out of play honestly it didn't originate with us -- Have friends -- pastors around the country who have done that from time to time. But I just sense in the middle of this economy we had a lot of our members. We're feeling really guilty when the offering plate was -- that I wanted to be atomic George Foreman so we told them if if they had indeed they can take out."

" You know -- I'm just trying to imagine how this works at church because I thought I was kind of are unbeaten. When you're gonna give something -- to the plate or you're not and then. What might seem even more where people be ashamed is actually taking money out was there any. Shame or was this a whole community type of thing."

" Well yeah -- there's a sense of community. And I talked to the church a bit about before you can be a really -- give -- you've got to learn how to be a good receiver. And so I know that it was difficult for instance. For some of our folks as we -- and but then it is this. This generosity. Concept -- really gathered momentum in our church and we were able to -- single moms who were able to bless people who were unemployed not paying their utility bills. And some of the things that we were able to do what apple I'm really excited to watch people in need beginning to feel release to receive because I know is they get blessed are going to become givers."

" Well I think it and this is fantastic and you are to be commended for us doing -- at your church there at the cross -- community church and Argyle Texas. And at the end of -- collection. Process and it's the ever as the collection plate ever come back completely empty yet because I know you give it away half a million dollars so far."

" No it really hasn't made and come back in fact and I think one of the things that we're experiencing that is. It is so refreshing is we're finding that that when the Bible says you -- god it's really true as we continue to -- it out into people's lives. People reported in in big big --"

" It's -- the church isn't suffering as well because -- know churches need that. Every penny that they can get their hands on right now to."

" What churches need every penny they can get their hand on but we're in the business of helping people in this economy if churches -- meeting the needs of people we've lost our focus on what our business is so. I'm completely confident that God's going to meet our needs as we meet other people's needs -- you know."

" I've got an idea that there are pastors and priests across this country watching you right now trying to think of you know could we do that and our church as well so I -- you guys have a a big impact. From down there in Argyle across the country."
