" Does Wednesday April 15 we call Tim Geithner today I'll be hosting the show from Atlanta. This tax they tea party check in with some of the -- parties going on all across the country and joining me now to discuss the way Americans are approaching. Tax -- 2009 is South Carolina governor Mark Sanford who over the weekend released what is now being called the first. Of the twentieth twelve presidential race let's take a look."
" Some say the solution lies and more government spending and deeper debt. The truth is more tax dollars will be spent in our state this year than ever before. But there must be a stopping point. Going further into debt will not solve a problem that was created by too much -- there must be a price that we will not impose on future generations. For me. The easy thing would be to accept money handed down from Washington. Put the easy thing you -- with the right thing."
" Governor thanks for being here you do you are coming under a lot of pressure for not taking all the stimulus money how's it go politically."
" We're surviving -- just fine I think that there is this silent majority if you want to call that. The very much it would be steep parties that are sort of self generating around the country. Because a lot of people are genuinely frustrated and concerned about the stimulus and at times. And a lot of people are very concerned about. The size of government and the way that continues to be growing here over the last couple months and last couple years I've noticed that the try to politicize this that you still have some relatively high unemployment and in South Carolina. And people so why should we take this money what is your answer back to them. Well Edwards. Did you again if people don't want to debate the merits of an issue they always trying to politicize today that goes with the territory but. I would say you know if if solving unemployment problem in South Carolina for that matter itself in the national economy was simple as -- about a money that you don't have. Wild lifestyle but the numbers that they're stuck again in Washington want to go to huge numbers although we were pretty close to huge right now. And and so I think that if you look at the example of Japan in the 1990s. I think if you look at a whole host of economic examples both in this country and attack in this country overtime. That method doesn't work -- printing money that you don't have with the way to economics of the success. Zimbabwe would be rich place and it's not go look I agree with you and I think there are times that if you want to be a leader you gotta take a stand on principle. But right now the country seems to at least think that this is going to be the answer we want our politicians to do something. But when you add up the numbers it's moving America toward socialism we can't afford it put it to dead on my kids and grandkids. Why you think that message has gotten out more than of the damage -- this could cause the economy. I think that it slowly seep in and which is why we've been pushing it back as we have in our state and why. I think that this tea parties that are you know again originated around the country are so important coming April 15. You know if you look at the numbers are absolutely frightening than you think about the deficit this year which is look at it. 12% of GDP that's in number three and portends anything we've seen in the past. If you look at the president's budget it is close to 20% of GDP. The you know that again nothing -- like anything we've seen since we were fighting for our country's existence back in World War II against Nazi aggression and Japanese imperialism and so. You know these numbers are insane you look at the notion of doubling the national day over the next ten years. Frightening implications are fully value of the dollar and frightening implications for I think -- going forward it's actually Tripoli on it."
" And 10% of Americans pay 73%. Of the tax bill we almost -- at the point where 50% of of people in this country don't pay anything. So why would they ever vote for any party that's going to ever and you don't put a tax on the when they feel that at some were free are we now impacting or release creating the potential. That it's it's going to be one group of people it's another group of Americans and divided the country."
" There's certainly that possibility but the reason -- fight back if I am a while whole our whole host of others are fighting back across this country. Is there is that silent majority after the it has a lot more common sense and people who -- is given credit. And and certainly would get into that tipping point where in -- receive an award give to this country which is that the danger zone in the new republic. But I think there -- a lot of people out there who realize there is no free lunch in life and it's it's it's again -- shared hope. That enough of war make noise at this critical point that we find themselves that because if not. We're in real trouble of the country forget that -- my friend John -- going to be in Atlanta. You know says common sense is pretty uncommon so it's uncommon sense. And there's this seems to be a no brainer to me but governor I'm glad to take the stand a principal quick yes or no. For president. Now again every everybody wants talk about that rather than again I -- the merits of what's going all the stimulus we've gotten into a a significant fight. Because we think it -- today. Got or if we take it all we've got 744 million dollars in the hole -- for months now thanking governor appreciated that is multi."
