Pete Sampras, one of the greatest tennis players in history, is selling his Brentwood, CA, home for $8.9 million, the Los Angeles Times reports. Sampras and his wife, actress Bridgette Wilson-Sampras, scored the estate in 2009 for $5.9 million, the publication notes.

The gated property on a cul-de-sac includes a 6,900-square-foot contemporary Craftsman home with six bedrooms, 6.5 bathrooms, first- and second-floor master suites with heated floors, and huge closets. The recently renovated and expanded brick house also boasts two-story beamed ceilings, theater room, wine cellar, and hardwood floors.

It's the half-acre lot, however, that is a stunner, with fountains, streams, and trails. The outdoor space features a pool, spa, kitchen, and sprawling manicured lawns. Surprisingly, there's no tennis court, which usually is de rigueur for tennis champ properties.

"It's at the end of a cul-de-sac among massive trees that creates an ambiance second to none," listing agent Jordan Cohen tells us.

Sampras, 44 and now officially retired, is a 14-time Grand Slam champ in men's singles. Wilson-Sampras, 42, has appeared in the films "Billy Madison" and "I Know What You Did Last Summer."
