After listing his Weston, FL mansion for $4.8 million in March, retired NFL cornerback Patrick Surtain closed a deal for the massive mansion in September for $4.25 million. However, the ex-Dolphin isn't waving goodbye to the Sunshine State.

Surtain just bought a home in Plantation, FL (not far from his former Weston digs) for $2.15 million.

His new place is modest compared to his previous estate -- which tipped the scales at nearly 12,000 square feet. The freshly purchased 6,456-square-foot spread offers five bedrooms and 6.5 baths.

Its open floor plan includes a massive modern kitchen with ash wood modern cabinetry, slick white countertops, and stainless steel appliances (including a built-in wine chiller next to the fridge).

The den has a built-in wet bar, hardwood floors, and French doors that lead out to the backyard and let plenty of natural light into the interior spaces.

In the master suite, there's a large walk-in closet with tons of built-in shelves and a mega-sized master bath. No, really. The space is large enough for two full-size vanities, a soaking tub, a chandelier, and a walk-in shower with dual shower heads.

The three-time Pro Bowler picked off 37 passes over his 11-year career in the NFL and was recently named a member of the Dolphin's 50th Anniversary Team.
