This modern house is hidden in the oak forests of Metchosin, a coastal community outside of Victoria.
The house was designed by the renowned Canadian architect Marko Simcic. A guiding principal of his design was to respect and protect the surrounding environment. Construction of the home began in 2009 and took about four years to complete.
The 10,700-square-foot main house consists of two narrow buildings connected by bridges. The Canyon River flows in between the two structures. The river also serves a purpose: it controls the temperature of the house through hydrothermal radiant energy, according to listing agent Scott Piercy of Engel & Völkers.

The house sits on 67 acres with amenities that include tennis courts, basketball courts, a swimming pool and a hot tub. A separate house on the property can be used as guest or staff accommodations.
