Who wouldn't want to live like an oil heir? Now you can, and you don't even have to save for the down payment. Five months after an attempt to sell his modern hillside home in Los Angeles, actor Balthazar Getty (heir to the Getty Oil fortune -- yes, that Getty) has put the place up for rent. It will cost a mere $35,000 per month.
While Getty's money might be from oil, his fame is from acting -- and affairs. He was Tommy Walker in "Brothers & Sisters" and field agent Thomas Grace on "Alias," and he gained some notoriety (and publicity) from his affair with actress Sienna Miller.
His six-bedroom, 6,000-square-foot home is listed for $10.25 million (a $250,000 drop from its original price), but why buy when you can rent? For $35,000 a month, you get a fortified compound with clean lines and stunning views, highlighted by floor-to-ceiling windows throughout -- some of which open, allowing indoor-outdoor living.
The glamour extends to the backyard, which is landscaped with drought-resistant plants and outfitted with multiple terraces and a swimming pool to create the ultimate L.A. retreat.
