ARLINGTON HEIGHTS, Ill. —
An Illinois police commander says he's cautiously optimistic investigators have made a breakthrough in the 1982 Tylenol murders and says authorities aren't holding anyone in custody in the case.Arlington Heights Police Commander Kenneth Galinski declined to speak in detail about the investigation Thursday. But he says one of his officers is in the Boston area, where federal authorities Wednesday searched the home of a man long suspected in the deaths of seven people who swallowed cyanide-laced Tylenol.
Galinski says neither James W. Lewis _ whose home was searched _ nor anyone else is in custody. Lewis served more than 12 years in prison for trying to extort money from the painkiller's manufacturers.
