New York City's Times Square has been reopened to traffic after a bomb squad found no explosive devices in an abandoned van parked in the area.
Investigators used a robot-based camera to examine a 1992 Dodge van with tinted windows that had been parked at the location for two days.
A placard from a nonexistent law enforcement agency was reportedly on the dashboard of the vehicle, which has no license plates.
The area around 42nd Street between Seventh Avenue and Broadway was briefly blocked off as a precaution, and two high-rise buildings home to Nasdaq and Conde Nast were partially evacuated.
Upwards of a million people are expected to pour into Times Square for the annual New Year's Eve celebration Thursday night.
