Biography:
Harry Teague was born in Caddo County, Okla., and moved to eastern New Mexico when he was 9 years old. He now resides in Hobbs.
Teague dropped out of high school at age 16 to work in the oil fields and eventually started an oilfield services business.
Teague served eight years on the Lea County Board of Commissioners and was board chairman for more than three years.
Teague has been married to his wife, Nancy, for 38 years. The couple has two children.
Profile:
Teague is campaigning on a platform of ending the war in Iraq, but declines to identify a specific date for troop withdrawal. He says he would like to use the money saved from ending the war to fund education, health care and economic development.
Campaigns:
Harry Teague beat Dona Ana County Commissioner Bill McCamley in this year's primary election with nearly 53 percent of the vote, winning 15 of the 18 counties in the southern New Mexico district. He used $700,000 of his own cash for his primary campaign.Teague has the support of Lt. Gov. Diane Denish and the endorsement of Gov. Bill Richardson.
