A Florida elections official has taken the extreme measure of sleeping with his county's ballots to ensure the integrity of the vote.
Mike Ertel, the supervisor of elections in Seminole County, Fla., locked himself into election headquarters Monday night to make sure nothing happened to the ballots or the voting machines, MyFOXOrlando.com reports.
"I'm a former Army guy, and I know the best way to make things safe and secure is to guard it," he told the station late Monday. "I'll be here all night."
Ertel said more than 100,000 people have already cast early ballots in the county and he wanted to make sure "nothing funny happens."
"It's my first big presidential election -- running it," he said. "I want to make sure that nothing goes wrong. The best way to make sure: stay here."
