After quite a long day, I have come to the solid conclusion that Senator John McCain will win Ohio without any problem. The reason I was able to come to this conclusion was through being a part of the biggest rally that I could ever imagine today at The Ervin J. Nutter Center. When I first heard about this event I thought to myself, "This will be a good reason to get people to skip school and will get people a little more interested in politics." Boy did I completely underestimate this event. After taking a shuttle to the arena because there was literally no parking, I found myself at the gate and was being turned away. The police that were manning the door said the Fire Marshall had shut down the building and they weren't letting anyone else in- even in the media. I thought "Oh well this is great, how am I going to write my blog?!" After spending the morning at The Marriott with the campaign staff I knew that THE Senator would be arriving shortly and I was still on the outside. I finally managed to make my way in thanks to a lovely Advance Team Staffer and was able to get a spot in the staff viewing area just in time to see the Senator. The place was electrified. I had never in my life seen people in person this excited about politics. Needless to say all that I went through to finally make my way in was well worth it. The reception he received from those who traveled all across the state of Ohio to be there was amazing. Flags waving, chants of USA, and red and blue glow sticks illuminating the arena, we were on the cusp of the big moment.... The announcement of the VP. After months of going back and forth of who it could be, I was shocked and ecstatic about the selection. Governor Sarah Palin was chosen and she sure did show with her speech why that was. It is women like Palin that I look up to and hope to emulate someday. I am so proud to say that I am not only working for the cause of getting Senator John McCain elected, but also for the cause of breaking down barriers that were once put up for women like me. Senator Clinton may have made her 18 million cracks in the ceiling, but it will be Senator John McCain and Sarah Palin that will shatter the ceiling this November 4th.
