DENVER -- A Democratic official says presidential nominee Barack Obama and his running mate Joseph Biden will head to Cleveland after the party convention to attend the funeral of Rep. Stephanie Tubbs Jones.
Tubbs Jones, a Democrat who was the first black woman to represent Ohio in Congress, died Aug. 20 after suffering a brain hemorrhage caused by a ruptured aneurysm. She was 58.
Tubbs Jones was a strong Hillary Rodham Clinton supporter, but was expected to stump for Obama after Clinton's withdrawal.
The memorial service will be Saturday at the Cleveland Public Auditorium. Obama and Biden accept the Democratic nominations for president and vice president in Denver on Thursday.
