No. 3, 1968 DNC Chicago Chaos
Welcome to the Top 11 Conventions in U.S. political history. This section is the culmination of two months of research and interviews, and we hope you come back to count down the most memorable conventions each weekday until No. 1 is revealed on Aug. 25, the first day of the Democratic National Convention in Denver.
Thursday's memorable convention is No. 3 on the list, the 1968 DNC in Chicago.
The tumult of the times translated into quite a chaotic convention. Protesters clashed with police outside, while inside, Chicago Mayor Daley and Connecticut Sen. Abraham Ribicoff get into a shouting match that gave television lip-readers an interesting story to tell.
