A new Democratic Party Web site is getting ahead of the news -- labeling John McCain's vice presidential running mate as another Dick Cheney even before the candidate has been named.

After months of saying McCain would represent a third term for President Bush, the Democratic National Committee is seeking to diversify its message -- connecting any would be-McCain running mate with the administration.

The top of the new Web site shows a glaring Cheney with a quote from McCain from October 2001 in which he said, "With a little more luck, I might have been able to ask you to be my vice president."

The site then outlines ties to and similarities between Bush and Cheney and the top contenders to become McCain's vice presidential candidate: Minnesota Gov. Tim Pawlenty, Florida Gov. Charlie Crist, former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney, South Dakota Sen. John Thune, Virginia Rep. Eric Cantor, former Hewlett Packard CEO Carly Fiorina and FedEx CEO Fred Smith.

Republican National Committee spokesman Alex Conant called the new DNC site a waste of time.

“While everyone else is debating the all-too-real energy crisis, it’s good to see Democrats are obsessing over hypothetical political match-ups. The DNC is having fun with Washington parlor games, but the rest of the nation is debating the merits of McCain’s ‘all-of-the-above’ energy plan versus Obama’s ‘inflate-your-tires’ approach."
