Anti-war activist Cindy Sheehan is set to challenge House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., for her California congressional seat.
After filing papers for the seat in April, Sheehan told The National Press Club Thursday she's going through with her campaign plans.
Sheehan, a California resident without a party affiliation, accused Pelosi of "signing blank checks" funding the Bush administration and being their "accomplice."
Sheehan last year cited a feeling of betrayal from the Democratic leadership for not ending the war in Iraq.
"I'm doing it to encourage other people to run against Congress members who aren't doing their jobs, who are beholden to special interests," Sheehan said in 2007.
A year ago, Sheehan also said she would run against Pelosi if impeachment articles against President Bush and Vice President Cheney did not move forward.
Recent impeachment attempts by Dennis Kucinich, D-Ohio, against both Cheney and Bush have made little progress.
Kucinich, who is set to appear Friday at a Judiciary Committee hearing to further discuss his impeachment articles, told FOX News he doesn't expect a vote but he'll press his case.
"I can tell you everything is directly connected to executive abuse of power ... these are connected to an executive who's run amok," Kucinich said.
Sheehan raised a quarter of a million dollars for her campaign and is 1,400 signatures short of being on the ballot in California.
