COLUMBUS, Ohio -- Republican John McCain chose to go to a German restaurant as rival Barack Obama toured Berlin.

McCain told reporters that he'd loved to give a speech in Germany. "But I'd much prefer to do it as president of the United States rather than as a candidate for president."

McCain said he was devoting his attention this week to campaigning across the nation's heartland.
