Barack Obama is ramping up for a major foreign trip that will take him to London, Berlin, other European cities and the Middle East less than four months before Election Day.
The Times of London reports Obama will travel to London next week, and will likely make undisclosed stops in Iraq and Afghanistan, where he plans to hone his message on America's wars abroad.
The Times, citing British sources, reports that Obama's appearance in London is not expected to be long. The paper also said Obama's advance team had made plain that he wants to get in and out of the city "as expeditiously as possible."
Obama has not yet confirmed individual parts of his foreign travel plans to American press.
But a draft itinerary the Times cites includes a meeting with Prime Minister Gordon Brown, as well as UK-based Americans who have given money to the Illinois senator's campaign.
British officials have penciled in July 18 for the visit, the Times said.
Reports in France and Germany suggest that he will visit Nicolas Sarkozy and Angela Merkel between July 24-25.
His visit to Berlin is likely to be the only moment when Obama comes face to face with a European public that, according to opinion polls, adores him.
Israeli sources told FOX that Obama is expected to come to Israel July 22-23, dates that have been circulating since since the weekend. The sources also said Obama is expected to go to Iraq before coming to Israel.
Multiple Israeli government sources indicated Obama might be picking Chuck Hagel as his vice presidential candidate. These sources consider Hagel to be pro-Palestinian, opposed to the American Israeli Public Affairs Committee, and for talking to Iran. They are watching to see if Hagel accompanies Obama to Iraq and then to Israel.
Der Spiegel magazine has quoted an Obama adviser saying that he wants to answer criticism that he had shown scant interest in Europe, having spent only 24 hours there in the past decade, and rekindle memories of John F. Kennedy's visit in 1963 when the youthful Democratic President declared: "Ich bin ein Berliner!"
The Times reports that negotiations were under way with the office of Klaus Wowereit, the Berlin Mayor, to hold the planned speech in front of the Brandenburg Gate, close to where the Wall dividing the city into East and West once stood.
Advisers to Merkel are worried, though, that it would be tantamount to endorsing Obama, an undue interference in a foreign election campaign.
