Barack Obama's presidential campaign announced 15 new members of the general election team Monday, including Patti Solis Doyle, Hillary Clinton's former chief of staff, and Stephanie Cutter, who had until now been Sen. Ted Kennedy's communications director.

Solis Doyle will become the chief of staff to the as-yet-to-be named vice presidential pick. She left the Clinton campaign after Clinton suffered unexpected defeats to Obama in the four contests Obama swept following his surprisingly strong showing on Super Tuesday. Clinton had expected to wrap up the nomination by that time, and Solis Doyle took the fall for the "inevitability" strategy that failed to get Clinton nominated.

Cutter will be Michelle Obama's chief of staff. Jim Messina, who had been Sen. Max Baucus' chief of staff, will now serve as Obama's chief of staff.

Campaign Manager David Plouffe said the new hires "will help broaden and deepen the reach of this campaign for change -- from field organizing to constituency outreach to voter registration."
