Houston police were called to a Texas caucus location Tuesday after receiving reports that the crowd had gotten "rowdy," according to a report on MyFOXHouston.com.
Several polling and caucus locations across the city stayed open late after reports of long lines and confusion at numerous locations.
Election officials in Travis and Tarrant counties confirmed some polling places were open beyond the normal 7 p.m. closing time.
According to Precinct Judge Edna B. Russell, the district attorney's office is investigating voting irregularities in Precinct 219 as a result of individuals preying on elderly in the area, MyFOXHouston reported.
Russell said scammers would go to senior citizens' homes and offer to fill out their absentee voting forms. Once a senior citizen signed the form, the scammers would then select the candidate of their choice.
As some of those seniors arrived at their polling location on Tuesday, they were turned away because election officials said they had already voted. Russell said at least 10 voters were turned away as a result of this scam, MyFOXHouston reported.
