HONOLULU -- Democratic Party officials are predicting a record turnout at caucus sites as Hawaii voters choose between Barack Obama and Hillary Rodham Clinton.
Crowds of voters are expected to pack the 68 neighborhood caucus locations statewide, with 12,000 people or more participating in the presidential vote starting at 7 p.m. HST.
About 5,000 people have signed up with the state Democratic Party since Super Tuesday two weeks ago, bringing the party's total membership to about 25,000 statewide.
Only registered Democrats are eligible to participate in the caucus, but voters can join the party by showing up at the caucus itself.
Results won't begin to be revealed until 9 p.m. at the earliest, and perhaps later if throngs of voters delay ballot counts.
