Television talk show guru and women's rights advocate Oprah Winfrey has been dubbed "traitor" by some of her online supporters for her decision to support Barack Obama over Hillary Clinton.
Oprah.com, Winfrey's Web site, has been flogged by negative posts and the majority of this uprising seems to be coming from Clinton supporters, the U.K.'s Sunday Times Online reports. Apparently, her detractors think she should be a woman before an African American.
"For the first time in history we actually have a shot at putting a woman in the White House and Oprah backs the black MAN. She’s choosing her race over her gender," reads one post written by a user named austaz68.
The title of the post is "Oprah is a traitor," and it appears to have launched a long thread about whether Oprah is acting as a "racist" for going on tour with Obama in December rather than withholding an endorsement or supporting Clinton. More than 600 people have contributed to that blog and it has spawned other points of discussion, including whether Clinton in the right woman for the job.

All the hype has apparently had an effect on Winfrey's campaigning for Obama as she vanished from the scene prior to the New Hampshire primary on Jan. 8 and has not been on site in South Carolina, where she made such a big splash with voters right before the Christmas holidays.
All of this comes as Winfrey is in talks with the Discovery cable network to launch her OWN (Oprah Winfrey Network) channel.
Obama aides say they believe Oprah will be returning to help Obama soon and cited her busy schedule as the reason why she has not been found time for the Democratic presidential candidate.
Speculation has risen as to whether these posts are merely "dirty tricks" spawned by individuals who are not "fans" of the media mogul. One visitor who claimed to be an Hispanic widowed mother and longtime Oprah fan said she was through.
"We must end our patronage of Oprah who is as bigoted as her candidate. Sisters a woman president is within our reach. Tell your friends about her, and tell them not to watch or buy anything Oprah," wrote thelmab47.
