ElectionLink Vehicles 1 and 2 (affectionately nicknamed “the ELVs”) are cutting-edge live remote vehicles that allow FOX News to cover politics and other breaking news as it happens. Unlike traditional live news vehicles, the ElectionLink trucks can even broadcast live while moving. Conceived and designed by a crack team of FOX News engineers, these trucks have become an important part of our election coverage with ElectionLink1 stationed in Iowa and ElectionLink2 in New Hampshire
The ELVs utilize recently developed technology to stream high-quality digitized video to a satellite and back down to the FOX News mothership in New York City. Each unit is equipped with a dashboard camera, a point, tilt and zoom roof camera and a shoulder-mounted camera that can roam roughly a quarter mile from the ElectionLink trucks without wires or cables live.
Quick and versatile, ELV1 and ELV2 will be re-named and re-deployed to cover breaking news after the elections have passed.
In the meantime, stay tuned to Fox News as we chase the candidates in the all-important caucuses and primary states. You’ll see what is happening on the campaign trail in real time.
