About the bill

The Consolidated Appropriations Act funds the federal government through the end of September 2014. The act provides about $1.1 trillion in discretionary funding in FY 2014, preventing $45 billion in sequester cuts this year. The act sets discretionary spending at $1.012 trillion and provides $98 billion for defense and disaster relief. The spending levels in the bill met the $520.5 billion defense and $491.7 billion non-defense budget caps set by the Ryan-Murray agreement. The so-called "omnibus" package contained all 12 regular appropriations bills, funding every agency of the federal government, for fiscal year 2014.
