The legal counsel for Environmental Protection Agency administrator Scott Pruitt has become the latest top aide to leave.
The EPA confirmed the departure of legal counsel Sarah Greenwalt in a statement Thursday from Pruitt.
Greenwalt is due to appear this month before a panel of House Oversight committee staffers investigating a series of ethics allegations against Pruitt.
She becomes the second top Pruitt aide in two days to resign. On Wednesday, Pruitt scheduler Millan Hupp resigned after lawmakers released testimony from her saying that Pruitt had directed her to house-hunt for him and ask about buying a used mattress.
Pruitt called Greenwalt a "tremendous leader." Greenwalt did not respond to an email seeking comment. She cited Pruitt's leadership and tenacity in a statement released by the EPA.
