The White House declined to respond Wednesday to CBS talk show host Stephen Colbert's joke about President Donald Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin that some critics are calling "homophobic."
“I won’t dignify those comments with a response," White House press secretary Sean Spicer said.
Kellyanne Conway, counselor to the president, told Fox News "it is not funny."
Conway added that regardless to who the president is, "it is about showing basic respect to the president of the United States, and the office of the president.”
Colbert, who has been criticized on social media platforms for the joke, with some calling the comedian homophobic, and demanding CBS fire him.
The "Late Show" star teed off on POTUS during his opening monologue Monday night for abruptly ending an interview with CBS News' "Face the Nation" host John Dickerson after receiving a question on his allegations of wiretapping by former President Obama.

"Sir, you attract more skinheads than free Rogaine," Colbert said during his profanity-laced rant, which was bleeped during the telecast. "You have more people marching against you than cancer. You talk like a sign language gorilla that got hit in the head. In fact, the only thing your mouth is good for is being Vladimir Putin's c--k holster."
