Hillary Clinton's campaign committee raised $33 million in the first quarter of 2016, according to a campaign filing with the Federal Election Commission filed Friday.
The campaign account, the Hillary Victory Fund, sought to expand its small donor base, perhaps as a response to Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders' frequent references to his robust small-donor financing.
Clinton, the Democratic presidential front-runner and former secretary of state, still raised heavily from large donors, however. Hollywood bigwigs like director James Cameron and producer Barry Diller were among contributors.
The filing also shows that Clinton spent $6.7 million on online ads and $5.5 million on direct marketing.
