Hillary Clinton was the only candidate to pledge not to raise taxes on the middle class during the third Democratic debate Saturday night.

"That is off the table as far as I am concerned," Clinton said of middle class tax hikes. "That is a pledge that I am making."

Since launching her campaign in April, 2015, Clinton has proposed programs to improve college affordability, infrastructure and drug treatment. A Wall Street Journal-based estimate put the programs' cost at more than $1 trillion over a decade. She has not detailed how she would pay for the programs.

While Sanders has proposed over $18 trillion in spending programs, he has not been shy about admitting his plans to increase taxes for both the wealthy and the middle class.
