Military says Russian air defense not stopping U.S. mission in Syria


A spokesman for the operation against the Islamic State pushed back on reports that Russian air defenses had halted U.S. flights in Syria.

"Russians don't dictate how we do business, that's just not going to happen," Col. Steve Warren, Operation Inherent Resolve spokesman, told reporters via video from Baghdad.

A Bloomberg report posted late Thursday night said the Obama administration is scrambling to figure out how to deal with a Russian advanced air defense system that has been in the region since earlier this month.
