A new Morning Consult poll shows Donald Trump leading the Republican field by 30 percentage points.
The poll finds Trump earning the support of 40 percent of those surveyed followed by Ben Carson at 10 percent, Ted Cruz at 9 percent and Jeb Bush and Marco Rubio tied at 7 percent each.
The polling shows that Bush and Cruz have each gained two percentage points since earlier this month, while Rubio dropped three percentage points and Carson lost two points.
While some of the poll's findings seem out of step with other national surveys, it is the second poll in as many days to show Trump at the 40 percent polling threshold. A majority of respondents in the Morning Consult survey held an unfavorable view of Trump.
