Mike Huckabee lambasted the Obama administration's vetting procedures of Syrian refugees Wednesday, equating them to "nothing less than fairy dust" as the president moves forward with plans to bring in 10,000 refugees over the next year.
"The issue is not about how many [refugees] or who. The issue is how do we know who these people are?" Huckabee "MSNBC Live" host Steve Kornacki of the president's plan. "We are being asked to just trust the federal government, and we are being told something that is nothing less than fairy dust when they tell us [how] ... wonderful their vetting process is."
"Now they just want us to just trust them that all the people who come here are going to behave nicely, none of them are really [Islamic State] plants, and that we don't need to fear," Huckabee, who is currently No. 9 on the Washington Examiner's presidential power rankings, railed.
The former Arkansas governor's comments come in the wake of Obama's comments to reporters Wednesday in the Philippines, during which he said GOP candidates are "scared" of "three-year-old orphans" coming into the country.
"Apparently they are scared of widows and orphans coming into the United States of America," Obama told reporters. "At first, they were too scared of the press being too tough on them in the debates. Now they are scared of three-year-old orphans. That doesn't seem so tough to me."
