Trump: Candidates with 'boring events' more likely to get fat on the campaign trail

Can low poll numbers and modest crowds lead presidential candidates to gain weight? Donald Trump seems to think so.

The Republican presidential hopeful, who's fourth in the Washington Examiner's presidential power rankings and leads the GOP field in RealClearPolitics' national polling average, said Tuesday he's lost 15 lbs since launching his White House bid.

"I have lost weight because my events are so exciting," Trump told People Magazine.

"One of the reasons is I have big crowds and they're very exciting stops. And when you speak and you really are going at it, you tend to ... I never thought about it, but speaking is almost a form of exercise," he added.

The outspoken billionaire cited his latest "Make America Great Again" rally as an example.
