Ronda Rousey is feeling the Bern. On Tuesday, the Olympic gold medalist and mixed martial arts (MMA) superstar endorsed Democratic presidential candidate Sen. Bernie Sanders.

"I’m voting for Bernie Sanders, because he doesn’t take any corporate money," Rousey said in an interview with Maxim magazine. "I don’t think politicians should be allowed to take money for their campaigns from outside interests."

Rousey’s endorsement did not come without controversy, considering GOP presidential candidate Donald Trump suggested that he had her support.

“I’ll tell you what,” Trump, a billionaire real estate mogul, said this summer. “I know some woman that are just -- Ronda Rousey is an example, who likes me. … I’d take her on my side as a fighter.”

In a later CNN interview, the fighter responded, "I just really wouldn't trust the guy with running my country… . I don't want a reality TV star to be running my country."

If Sanders does not win the primary, Rousey said that she would vote for a third party, similarly to what she did in 2012.

Sanders, Vermont Independent, has not released a comment regarding the new endorsement.
