Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said shared values and ultimately freedom is at the heart of his affection for the United States. "These are two societies built on a purpose, on the idea of freedom," Netanyahu said at an awards dinner hosted by the American Enterprise Institute Monday.
The prime minister noted that whenever he speaks before Congress he is reminded about the idea of a "Promised Land," when sees the emblem of Moses inside the Capitol. "It's the idea of freedom, freedom from bondage and freedom to pursue your future. This is the idenity of conviction," Netanyahu said.
Netanyahu went on to underscore the importance of the alliance between the two nations and America's role as a defender of liberty.
