Former Putin aide found dead in Washington

A former top press aide to Russian President Vladimir Putin was discovered dead in a Washington, D.C., hotel Thursday.

Mikhail Lesin, a leading political figure in his home country, died of an apparent heart attack in a hotel room near Dupont Circle, the Washington Post reported.

Lesin had also worked for Gazprom-Media, a state-owned corporation that reportedly runs much of Russia's press.

The Russian embassy confirmed to reporters that the man found in the Dupont hotel was the former Putin aide; local police had declined to release the identity of the man Friday evening.
