House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi has named six Democrats to a special panel formed by Republicans to investigate Planned Parenthood.
Rep. Jan Schakowsky of Illinois will act as ranking member of the 13-member special committee, which will be housed within the powerful Energy and Commerce Committee and given broad authority to investigate alleged wrongdoing by the women's health and abortion provider, which has come under fire for supplying aborted fetal tissue to human tissue companies.
The other five Democrats on the panel will include Reps. Jerry Nadler of New York, Diana DeGette of Colorado, Suzan DelBene of Washington, Jack Speier of California and Bonnie Watson of New Jersey.
While Democrats have decried the establishment of the committee, saying Planned Parenthood did nothing wrong, Pelosi said she's glad to have some of their members "in the room to fight for the truth."
