A day after Republican presidential candidate Sen. Marco Rubio picked up the endorsement of Sen. Cory Gardner of Colorado, another newly elected Republican, Montana Sen. Steve Daines, also declared his support for the White House aspirant.
Rubio has ascended to third in recent GOP polls, after retired neurosurgeon Ben Carson and billionaire Donald Trump.
"I'm endorsing Marco Rubio for president. He represents the next generation of conservative leadership," Daines told Fox News' Kevin Corke in an interview Tuesday. "He is a leader that will inspire and unite the country--- and he will be the next president."
Daines, like Gardner, won his seat in the historic 2014 midterm election that saw a new class of Republican senators win across the country.
"Rubio is very well respected by this new generation of U.S. senators that want to bring fundamental change to the U.S.," said Dario Moreno, a Florida International University politics professor, and longtime friend of Rubio, who teaches a politics class with Florida's junior senator in Miami.
"You want to be endorsed by these energetic, new-type Republicans," Moreno added.
