A plurality of registered Republican voters think Donald Trump won Wednesday's CNBC debate, according to a new poll by research firm Gravis Marketing.
The results differ somewhat from the emerging consensus of the political commentariat, who argue Sen. Marco Rubio or perhaps Sen. Ted Cruz, finished first. Among those polled, 26.7 percent thought Trump won the debate, while Rubio placed second at 21.1 percent. Cruz was third at 17.3 percent.
Newly-minted Iowa front-runner Ben Carson finished fourth, with 12.5 percent.
Jeb Bush and Rand Paul were most commonly seen as losing the debate. More than a quarter of those asked said the former Florida governor lost, while 24.2 percent said Sen. Rand Paul lost.
