Ryan: 'We are turning the page'

Speaker-designate Paul Ryan on Wednesday pledged to run the House differently than John Boehner following his election by 200 members of the GOP conference.

"We are turning the page," Ryan said after leaving the Ways and Means committee room where his election was held. "We are going to move forward, we are going to unify. We believe the country is on the wrong track. We believe the county is headed in the wrong direction."

Ryan did not win the 218 needed to secure the gavel, but will do so on Thursday when the entire House votes. Many of the 43 conservatives who voted for Rep. Daniel Webster, R-Fla., instead of Ryan, are expected to switch their vote tomorrow to the Wisconsin Republican.

"I want to thank my colleagues for bestowing upon me this great honor," Ryan said.
