“Rape andincest, I would not be in favor of killing a baby because the babycame about in that way,†explained Carson.“And all you have to do is go and look up themany stories of people who have led very useful lives who were theresult of rape or incest.â€

Todd asked Carson who’s right“should be superseded? The mother or the unbornchild? Who’s right, who has greater rights?â€

Carson insisted, “In the ideal situation, themother should not believe that the baby is her enemy and should notbe looking to terminate the baby.â€

“You know, things are set up in such a waythat the person in the world who has the greatest interest inprotecting the baby is the mother,†claimed Carson.“We’ve allowed the purveyors of the visionto make mothers think that that baby is their enemy and that theyhave a right to kill it.  Can you see how pervertedthat line of thinking is?â€

With unwanted pregnancies, Carson insisted the pregnancy shouldnot be terminated.

“Think about this.  Duringslavery– and I know that’s one of those wordsyou’re not supposed to say, but I’m sayingit,†explained Carson. “During slavery, a lot of the slave ownersthought that they had the right to do whatever they wanted to thatslave. Anything that they chose to do. And, you know, what if theabolitionist had said, you know, ‘I don’t believe inslavery. I think it’s wrong. But you guys do whatever youwant to do?’ Where would we be?â€

Regarding repealing Roe v. Wade, Carson said,“I would like to see it done in the rightway.â€

Todd then asked Carson about the ramifications of repealingRoe v. Wade suggesting, “And that meansall abortions illegal? Or is there still an exception that youwould have?â€

Carson insisted, “I’m a reasonableperson. And if people can come up with a reasonable explanation ofwhy they would like to kill a baby, I’lllisten.â€

If the life and health of a mother are at risk, Carson insisted“that’s a extraordinarily rare situation. But if in that very rare situation it occurred, I believethere’s room to discuss that.â€
