As the government's ability to issue new debt whittles away, a White House spokesman reiterated that President Obama will not negotiate with Republicans over granting the Treasury Department additional borrowing authority.
"The president has been clear and this White House has been clear that we're not going to negotiate over the debt limit," White House spokesman Eric Schultz said on Friday. "[T]his isn't asking Congress to do anything extraordinary or special. This is asking the Congress to pay bills that it's already incurred.
"We urge them to do this immediately; and without any drama or delay," he said.
Schultz added that the White House isn't reaching out to congressional Democrats on the issue because, for the administration, the point is moot.Read more on WashingtonExaminer.com
