Democrats call Benghazi hearings 'fundraising ploy,' then fundraise off them

The Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee blasted the House Benghazi Select Committee as a "fundraising ploy" and then proceeded to ask for donations Thursday.

"The Benghazi Committee can stop looking, because a Washington Post columnist has uncovered the real scandal," the email, titled "Hillary Clinton SHAMED" read, "This Committee is a fundraising ploy. Gowdy has been linked to an anti-Hillary Super PAC raising heaps of money off Benghazi."

The DCCC pledged to triple match gifts made during the hearing.

"We need to make the Republicans pay for this," the message continued. "Imagine how angry they'll be when they learn that this political charade turned into a huge fundraising day to kick them out of office."
